GoPro MISSION 1 PRO
The fastest modes remove full Horizon Lock. Endurance changes stabilization and noise reduction, and the camera has no flip-up screen.
Head-to-head
Choose MISSION 1 PRO if ordinary 4K240 or 8K60 will solve a specific shot and you can handle the resulting edit. Full Horizon Lock is unavailable at 4K240 and 8K60. Choose Ace Pro 2 for a low-mounted camera you need to see from above, or when 4K120 and 8K30 already cover the final film. Keep Ace’s Endurance mode off for voice, gesture control or charging while recording. MISSION’s Endurance mode has a different catch, reducing stabilization and video noise reduction.
Before you choose
For a short jump, swing or trick that you will inspect in an edit, MISSION 1 PRO’s 4K240 provides twice the captured frames of Ace’s 4K120. On a 30 fps timeline that allows 8× rather than 4× slow playback. It is useful when the event happens quickly enough that the extra slowdown changes what a viewer can see. The trade is a more demanding recording mode and no full Horizon Lock at 4K240. It does not establish sharper movement, and poor light can still make the shot unusable. Ace remains a sensible choice when 4K120 is already enough and most of the camera’s week is ordinary family filming.
What this is based on
A brief rapid event crossed with final timeline rate and mode-specific stabilization limits.240÷30=8 and 120÷30=4. No shutter speed, motion sharpness, coaching accuracy or injury-prevention claim is inferred.

Ordinary 4K stops at 120 fps and 8K at 30 fps. Endurance removes voice, gesture, horizon-lock and Charge and Record functions.

MISSION 1 PRO adds 4K240 and 8K60 for planned edits. Ace Pro 2 offers a flip screen for low-mounted filming. Compare mode restrictions and the cost after recording.
Both are current compact fixed-lens cameras for an ambitious family or sports film. MISSION asks you to pay for faster capture, while Ace can make a common low-mounted self-filming setup easier to use.
Winner by situation
MISSION provides the frame rate with no full Horizon Lock at that setting. Ace stops at 4K120.
MISSION records 8K60. Ace 8K30 lacks the same extra captured frames.
Ace’s flip screen helps the viewing angle. Use normal modes for hands-free controls or charging while recording.
Ace covers those formats. Check current complete package cost before paying for faster modes you will not use.

You might want one horizontal recording to become a portrait clip of a person moving, with the motion slowed slightly rather than frozen. MISSION’s 8K60 can supply twice as many captured frames as a 30 fps output needs, leaving room for 2× slow playback before any frame interpolation. Ace’s 8K30 can supply a high-resolution crop, but not that same captured-frame slowdown at 30 fps. This is a specific reason to choose MISSION, provided the person stays inside the intended crop and the editing setup handles the files. For a static view or normal-speed family clip, Ace’s 8K30 may already cover the job. More frame rate is not a reason to add processing to every recording.
A portrait crop crossed with a 30 fps delivery timeline and verified 8K60 versus 8K30 capture.60÷30=2. Assumes a usable source and compatible editing. No optical detail, autofocus, field-of-view or storage-duration claim is made.
If the camera spends weekdays on a low table filming a hobby or a demonstration, Ace’s flip screen can let you check the composition without lifting the camera. Normal modes support hands-free voice and gesture controls. Endurance turns those controls off and also removes charging while recording, so the longer-running setting does not preserve that whole setup. MISSION has no flip-up screen, and its own Endurance mode reduces stabilization and video noise reduction. Pick the camera around the mode you can actually use for the session. A short setup test and a planned battery pause can be more useful than buying the larger video headline and discovering the control conflict halfway through.
One-person low-camera filming crossed with screen articulation, occupied hands and distinct power-saving exclusions. No voice-recognition reliability, accessibility outcome or matched runtime is promised.

Meaningful differences
| What changes | GoPro MISSION 1 PRO | Insta360 Ace Pro 2 | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|---|
| A sports trick slowed in 4K | Ordinary 4K240 16:9, without full Horizon Lock at that rate. | Ordinary 4K120 16:9. | On a 30 fps timeline, the captured rates allow 8× versus 4× slow playback. Exposure, lighting and final editing still determine usability. |
| A high-resolution crop that also needs slow playback | 8K 16:9 up to 60 fps. Full Horizon Lock unavailable at 8K60. | 8K 16:9 up to 30 fps. | MISSION can supply 2× slow playback from an 8K60 source on a 30 fps timeline. Ace’s 8K30 does not supply that extra captured-frame margin. |
| Watching a low-mounted camera | Fixed screen layout. | 2.5-inch flip-up touchscreen. | Ace gives a practical viewing-angle advantage when you stand above a low camera. It does not remove focus-distance or mounting constraints. |
| The power-saving mode | Endurance reduces stabilization and video noise reduction. | Endurance disables voice, gesture, horizon lock and charging while recording. | The two modes sacrifice different parts of the shoot. Neither battery headline should be combined with features its power-saving mode removes. |
| Weight and package | 207 g with battery. Fixed-lens PRO package. | 182 g original or 184 g updated hardware. Selected package has one battery. | Ace removes 23 to 25 g at the camera, before mounts or accessories. That does not predict comfort or handling for a particular person. |
What you give up
Recommendation switch
Choose GoPro MISSION 1 PRO. MISSION supplies the higher ordinary frame rates. Accept the horizon limits and prepare the media and editing setup.
Choose Insta360 Ace Pro 2. Ace addresses that common workflow. Endurance must stay off for the required hands-free controls.
Choose neither. Both power-saving modes change the available setup. Choose and test the actual mode first.
What matters in practice
More frames help a planned sports edit, while seeing and controlling the camera can matter more when you are filming alone.
