  • 1800-watt induction motor. Popular Mechanics recorded about 76 dBA in its indoor test setting

Know the trade-offs

  • It is a roughly 60-pound fixed installation with a short power lead, so wall structure, outlet and water-supply placement must be planned before purchase.
  • The 3700 PSI/1.6 GPM headline is a maximum claim. The manufacturer separately rates it at 2700 PSI and 1.2 GPM.
Position 7
Active 2.0 Electric Pressure Washer

Active, Active 2.0 / SE01

Active 2.0 Electric Pressure Washer

A compact high-flow detailing unit with a five-piston pump and standard accessory-friendly hardware, built for foam and rinse work rather than headline pressure.

Know the trade-offs

  • The manufacturer separates 2500 PSI/1.76 GPM maxima from a 2000 PSI/1.2 GPM rated point. Independent measurements were lower again.
  • The small 360-degree wheels are excellent on flat paving but poor on rough yard terrain, and assembly takes more effort than cube models.
Position 16
Craftsman 1700 MAX PSI Electric Pressure Washer

Craftsman, CMEPW1700

1700 MAX PSI Electric Pressure Washer

A small carry-style washer for apartments, cars and furniture where easy shelving matters more than speed or wide-area output.

Best fit forSmallest Craftsman storage footprint

Why it fits

  • 1700 max PSI and 1.2 GPM manufacturer rating
  • 20-foot pressure hose and 35-foot power cord
  • Two included nozzles and a roughly 16-pound carry-style body

Know the trade-offs

  • Car and Driver recorded 89 dBA, so its small size does not make it one of the quieter electrics.
  • The 20-foot hose, limited tips and carry-only format are restrictive on patios and around larger vehicles.
Position 17
EGO Power+ 2100 PSI Compact Pressure Washer Kit

EGO, HPW2105

Power+ 2100 PSI Compact Pressure Washer Kit

A single-battery compact washer with bucket siphoning, quick connections and an included foam cannon for cordless cars, furniture and smaller outdoor jobs.

Know the trade-offs

  • The advertised 2300 PSI and 2.3 GPM describe different operating points.
  • The wheeled frame takes more room than a compact carry-handle washer.
Position 24
Westinghouse WPX2300e Electric Pressure Washer

Westinghouse, WPX2300e

WPX2300e Electric Pressure Washer

A two-wheel electric cart for moving between patio and driveway jobs. Its rated flow matches the smaller ePX3500, so the reason to choose it is the cart and eight-inch wheels, rather than an assumed cleaning advantage.

Best fit forRolling between outdoor work areas when carrying upstairs is uncommon

Why it fits

  • Manufacturer rated output 1900 PSI and 1.2 GPM, with maximum flow specified at lowest pressure.
  • 25-foot pressure hose and 35-foot GFCI power cord.
  • Eight-inch never-flat wheels and a 27.5 lb dry unit.

Know the trade-offs

  • The 27.5 lb dry weight is 8.5 lb above ePX3500. Wheels do not remove the lifting needed for stairs.
  • Rated output is 1900 PSI and 1.2 GPM. The separate 2300 PSI and 1.76 GPM maxima are not a simultaneous operating point.
Position 25
Westinghouse WPX3000e Electric Pressure Washer

Westinghouse, WPX3000e

WPX3000e Electric Pressure Washer

Adds rated pressure for compatible hard surfaces while keeping the familiar plug-in cart format. The larger wheels help with moving the unit, but its heavier body and unchanged hose still matter on a property with steps.

Best fit forHard-surface jobs with a nearby outlet and a rolling storage route

Why it fits

  • Rated 2600 PSI and 1.1 GPM in both the official product page and model-specific manual.
  • 3000 maximum PSI and 1.76 maximum GPM are separate conditions.
  • Ten-inch wheels, 36.8 lb dry unit, 25-foot hose and 35-foot GFCI cord.

Know the trade-offs

  • Rated flow is 1.1 GPM, below WPX2300e’s 1.2 GPM. Higher pressure does not establish faster rinsing.
  • The dry unit weighs 36.8 lb and the supplied hose remains 25 feet.
Position 26
Westinghouse WPX3400e Brushless Electric Pressure Washer

Westinghouse, WPX3400e

WPX3400e Brushless Electric Pressure Washer

A brushless electric cart with 3000 rated PSI for suitable hard-surface work. It gives you more rated pressure than WPX3000e in the same listed body size, with additional lifting weight and no longer supplied hose.

Best fit forStubborn hard-surface cleaning where the washer can roll from storage

Why it fits

  • Rated 3000 PSI and 1.1 GPM, distinct from 3400 maximum PSI and 2.0 maximum GPM.
  • Brushless motor, ten-inch wheels and 42.7 lb dry weight.
  • 25-foot pressure hose and 35-foot GFCI cord.

Know the trade-offs

  • The rated flow is still 1.1 GPM, the same as WPX3000e. The 2.0 GPM maximum occurs at lowest pressure.
  • At 42.7 lb dry, it adds 5.9 lb over WPX3000e without adding hose length.
Position 27
Active 2.3 Electric Pressure Washer

Active, SE12, US tool only

2.3 Electric Pressure Washer

A high-flow starting point for a custom car-washing setup on suitable 15A power. It needs a separately chosen hose and gun, and its foam-cannon requirements can make old accessories unsuitable even when the threads fit.

Best fit forRegular vehicle washing with a planned accessory kit and suitable 15A supply

Why it fits

  • US SE12 manual specifies 1100 rated PSI, 2.3 GPM and 14A on 120V, for suitable 15A power.
  • M22-14 mm outlet and a steel-braided pressure hose no longer than 100 feet are specified.
  • Tool-only parts list includes the handle, nozzle kit and 1.45 mm foam-cannon orifice, not a hose, gun or lance.

Know the trade-offs

  • Tool only means the pressure hose, gun and lance are separate purchases. Included nozzles do not make a complete wash kit.
  • The manual requires at least 4.8 GPM incoming water flow. The 2.3 GPM output rating is not the tap-supply requirement.
Position 28
Active 3.0 Electric Pressure Washer

Active, SE22US, tool only

3.0 Electric Pressure Washer

A higher-flow detailing washer for an already suitable garage or a deliberately planned installation. Its dedicated 20A connection, larger-bore hose requirement and scheduled pump-oil changes are part of the purchase.

Best fit forFrequent car washing with confirmed dedicated 20A power and compatible accessories

Why it fits

  • US 120V model draws a rated 18A and requires dedicated 20A power.
  • 1000 rated PSI and 3.0 GPM. Peak 1500 PSI is a different figure.
  • M22-14 mm outlet, minimum 5/16-inch steel-braided pressure hose and 1.65 mm foam-cannon orifice.

Know the trade-offs

  • The US model requires a dedicated 20A circuit and matching NEMA 5-20 receptacle. Do not use an adapter to defeat the plug requirement.
  • Pressure hose, gun and lance are separate. The hose must be steel braided with at least a 5/16-inch internal diameter. Quarter-inch hoses are excluded.

The choices that matter

How to choose your next pressure washer

Focus on the factors that change which product works best for you.

01

Compare one operating point, not two maxima

PSI cuts bonded grime and GPM carries it away, but many listings publish a maximum PSI at one nozzle and maximum GPM at low pressure. Compare rated or measured PSI and flow at the same operating condition.

02

Use cleaning units cautiously

PSI × GPM can help compare two machines tested under the same method. It becomes misleading when one number is a maximum claim, another is rated, or nozzle sizes and certification methods differ.

03

Choose the power source by job size

Corded electrics suit most cars, decks and routine patios. Battery models trade runtime and cost for remote operation. Gas makes sense for sustained broad concrete work where extra flow saves substantial time.

04

Pump design changes ownership

Residential axial-cam pumps are compact and maintenance-light but commonly treated as replaceable assemblies. Triplex plunger pumps cost and weigh more, yet better suit repeated duty and can be serviced.

05

Hose reach is productive power

A longer, flexible, properly rated hose often saves more time than a small PSI increase because the washer moves less. Check M22 size, quick-connect standards and surface-cleaner compatibility before buying accessories.

06

Protect the surface and the operator

Start with a wide fan, low pressure and extra distance on paint, wood, siding and vehicles. Zero-degree tips concentrate enough force to injure skin and damage surfaces. They are rarely needed at home.

07

Confirm the water source

Most full-size washers require a pressurized garden-hose supply that meets minimum inlet flow. Only models designed for siphoning should draw from a tank or bucket, using clean water and the specified lift height.

08

Plan noise, exhaust and local availability

Gas engines are substantially louder and must run outdoors away from doors, windows and vents. Emissions rules can restrict specific gas models in California even when an Amazon page is visible nationally.

09

Match soap delivery to the workflow

An onboard tank is convenient for general cleaner. Detailing users may prefer standard quick-connect hardware and a separate foam cannon, whose required flow and orifice must match the washer.

10

Storage and winterizing still matter

Drain hoses, protect the pump from freezing and store accessories dry. Gas models also need engine oil and fuel management. A wall-mounted washer needs a load-bearing location near water, drainage and a GFCI outlet.
