Main trade-off
DJI Osmo 360
Third-party offer. Owner optical-lens replacement is unsupported, and dry-use lens protectors must not be treated as wet-weather protection.
Head-to-head
Choose X6 for a ready 4K clip with the full surrounding recording, documented pet tracking and a supported scratch-repair route. Choose Osmo 360 for more internal space or compatible DJI batteries you already own. Confirm the third-party seller, Standard Combo and US warranty. Neither internal store is automatic backup, and neither 8K50 label promises a flat 8K picture.
Before you choose
On a multi-day trip with limited time to copy footage, DJI’s 105 GB usable internal space provides 58 GB more capacity than X6’s 47 GB. Both already solve the missing-card problem when their storage is free. The extra space matters if that first fallback would otherwise fill before you can copy and verify files. It does not tell us how many more minutes you will record, because bitrate, mode and file combinations differ. X6’s simultaneous flat and spherical mode also creates two useful outputs. Choose DJI when retaining more source footage between transfers is the repeated need. Choose X6 when a finished clip is more valuable than accumulating more unedited files. Keep an independent copy whenever the footage matters.
What this is based on
105−47=58 GB usable-capacity difference. No runtime conversion because actual bitrates and recording modes differ. Crossed with delayed transfers and willingness to edit.
Main trade-off
Third-party offer. Owner optical-lens replacement is unsupported, and dry-use lens protectors must not be treated as wet-weather protection.
Main trade-off
47 GB usable internal space. The separate dive case needs underwater lenses, and owner lens repair requires calibration.

Osmo 360 has more internal space and shares compatible DJI batteries. X6 can save a ready 4K clip with the full scene. Compare pet framing and repair limits.
These current premium cameras both offer 8K50 sphere recording and internal storage. The useful choice is how the household captures, shares and resets the camera between outings.
Winner by situation
DJI has 105 GB usable versus 47 GB. Actual recording time depends on mode and bitrate.
X6 documents this combination with 360 Video Backup enabled.
Osmo 360 can reduce duplicated accessories. Verify exact models and count what simultaneous use needs.
X6 has a bounded kit-and-calibration procedure. DJI does not support owner lens replacement.

A dog walk may involve one person holding a leash and another carrying the camera. X6’s documented pet tracking can create a 4K flat clip while its 8K sphere preserves other angles, if 360 Video Backup is enabled. That combination is valuable when you want to send the clip immediately rather than reframe the whole outing. DJI still records 360 footage that can be edited around the dog, so this is a workflow advantage rather than proof that only X6 can film pets. A close animal also creates a separate problem. DJI recommends at least 0.75 m for stitching, while X6’s 0.6 m figure is minimum focus. Those are different tests and cannot prove which camera handles a nose at the lens better.
Occupied hands, intended animal subject and immediate sharing crossed with exact mode support. Stitching distance and focus distance deliberately not normalized into a false winner. No tracking success rate.
Both cameras support two direct wireless transmitters, so two-person filming is not an automatic win for either brand. The useful question is which compatible microphones you already own and whether they can work in the exact intended mode. Osmo 360 supports the listed DJI transmitter family. X6 documents two Mic Air or Mic Pro transmitters. Moving systems may mean new microphones, a different pairing routine or a receiver-based alternative that needs its own verification. If you also own compatible Osmo Action batteries, DJI can consolidate another part of the bag. That advantage disappears if you own neither system. Do not assume one brand’s direct pairing works across both cameras just because both say Bluetooth.
Two speakers and sunk accessory costs crossed with positive camera-specific transmitter compatibility and shared battery support. Cross-brand incompatibility is not invented where untested. No audio-quality ranking.

Meaningful differences
| What changes | DJI Osmo 360 | Insta360 X6 | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|---|
| Usable internal storage | 105 GB. | 47 GB. | DJI offers 58 GB more usable internal space. That is extra file capacity, not a measured runtime advantage or a second copy. |
| A ready clip while retaining other angles | OSV sphere and separate flat-video paths. | 4K30 flat plus 8K30 sphere together in InstaFrame. | X6 has a documented route to immediate 4K sharing without discarding the scene outside that view. |
| Two direct wireless voices | Two compatible DJI transmitters. | Two compatible Mic Air or Mic Pro transmitters. | Both have a two-person route. Existing compatible microphones can decide the system cost, rather than the mere presence of wireless audio. |
| Lens scratch recovery | Owner replacement unsupported. | Scratch replacement kit and calibration, with severe damage referred to support. | X6 offers an owner repair route, but it is bounded by damage type and working conditions. |
What you give up
Recommendation switch
Choose DJI Osmo 360. Osmo 360 covers those needs. Confirm seller and US warranty, and plan the edit.
Choose Insta360 X6. X6 provides those documented routes. Keep the mode and repair limits in the plan.
What matters in practice
More space lets you bring home more footage, but a ready clip may be what gets that footage watched.
