Main trade-off
Insta360 Luna Pro
Its remote is not a free second microphone once an external mic is connected. The 215 g body also needs careful gimbal protection.
Head-to-head
Choose Luna Pro if you need tracking in its dedicated low-light or slow-motion mode, or a preview screen that leaves your phone free. Choose Pocket 3 for a lighter body and compatible DJI microphone reuse when ordinary Video mode covers the job. Its Low-Light and Slow Motion modes disable ActiveTrack. The selected Pocket 3 Capture More Combo has a third-party seller, so confirm the exact package and US warranty.
Before you choose
A parent may put the camera down to join a child’s birthday game or a short dance after work. In a dim room, switching Pocket 3 to its dedicated Low-Light mode removes ActiveTrack. Switching to Slow Motion removes it too. You can use ordinary Video for tracking, or leave a fixed view wide enough for the movement. Luna Pro keeps tracking available in PureVideo and Slow-Mo, which preserves another way to film without appointing somebody to operate the camera. Choose it when that combination is a recurring need. This does not prove better night pictures or perfect tracking. Clear the view, test the actual movement and check the screen before the moment starts. A gimbal cannot recover a subject hidden behind furniture.
What this is based on
One adult both participating and operating crossed with low-light or slow-motion mode eligibility. Ordinary tracked Video remains an alternative on Pocket 3. No comparative autofocus or image-quality test is inferred.

Main trade-off
ActiveTrack is unavailable in Low-Light and Slow Motion. There is no internal video storage or detachable camera preview screen.

Luna Pro keeps tracking in low-light and slow-motion modes. Pocket 3 carries less. Compare solo filming, close demonstrations and hidden microphone costs.
Both are small stabilized cameras for family footage and self-filming, with a wide lens and tracked normal video. The useful choice is which camera lets the same person appear in the scene, operate the camera and record the intended sound without extra work.
Winner by situation
Luna supports the combination. Pocket’s Low-Light mode disables ActiveTrack, though ordinary Video can still track.
Luna supplies a separate preview screen. Pocket remote control through Mimo occupies the phone.
Pocket can connect supported DJI transmitters directly. Verify exact generation and the third-party camera package.
Pocket’s body is 36 g lighter. Its handle and other accessories change the complete-kit weight.

If your phone holds a recipe, speaking notes or a video call, using that same phone as the camera monitor adds a conflict. Luna’s removable screen can stay beside the work surface while the camera sits on a tripod. Pocket’s Mimo app can also control framing, so the question is whether the phone is free. Now add a second speaker. Luna’s remote microphone stops being an independent input when an external mic is connected. Giving one person a clip mic and the other the remote is therefore not the two-person solution it appears to be. Plan a compatible pair of transmitters or test a supported receiver. Existing DJI Mic 2 or Mic Mini owners have a practical reason to prefer Pocket 3. Check exact microphone generations, and do not treat the generic lavalier in a seller bundle as a verified DJI transmitter.
Phone already occupied crossed with camera preview and two-person audio routing. Remote preview is useful independently of microphone compatibility. Receiver support is not a guarantee for every third-party device.
A person explaining a craft or showing a child’s small model often brings the object toward the camera midway through a sentence. Pocket 3’s documented focus range starts at 20 cm, while Luna Pro’s starts at 9 cm. That gives Luna 11 cm more room for a close presentation before crossing the stated limit. It can save the presenter from moving the whole camera or keeping the object farther away than expected. The limit still applies to the object, not just the presenter’s face. Make a short test with the actual item and lighting. Minimum focus says nothing by itself about fine print, focus switching speed or magnification, and a hand can hide the detail. Pocket remains suitable when the work can stay at least 20 cm away or be filmed as a separate, controlled shot.
Uninterrupted spoken demonstration crossed with changing subject distance. 20 minus 9 equals 11 cm of focus-distance headroom. This is not a sharpness, magnification or accessibility claim.

Insta360, CINSACHA, Cosmic Black Standard Bundle
Keep tracking available in PureVideo and Slow-Mo, or watch the detachable screen while your phone holds a script. Tracking can still lose an obstructed subject.

Carry a 179 g body and reuse compatible DJI microphones for ordinary tracked video. The selected Capture More Combo has a third-party seller, so confirm its exact package and US warranty.
Meaningful differences
| What changes | Insta360 Luna Pro | DJI Osmo Pocket 3 | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|---|
| A parent in the evening scene | Tracking remains available in PureVideo. | ActiveTrack is disabled in the dedicated Low-Light mode. | Luna keeps tracking available in its low-light mode. Pocket can still track in ordinary Video, whose lighting result is a separate question. |
| Filming alone while reading a recipe or script | Detachable live-preview screen. | Remote camera control is available through the Mimo phone app. | Luna lets the phone keep the recipe, notes or call while a separate screen shows framing. Pocket works if dedicating the phone is acceptable. |
| Showing a small object | Main-lens minimum focus 9 cm. | Minimum focus 20 cm. | Luna permits a closer object position. Neither distance promises autofocus success or more readable fine detail. |
| Two people speaking away from the camera | External mic connection disables independent remote microphone capture. Two matching Mic Air or Mic Pro units supported directly. | Two compatible DJI Mic 2 or Mic Mini transmitters can connect directly. | Price the actual two-person setup. A remote and one clip mic do not give Luna two independent close microphones. |
| Camera in the day bag | 215 g selected black body and 47 GB internal space. | 179 g body. Memory card required. | Pocket is 36 g lighter before handles and microphones. Luna provides a missing-card fallback if enough internal space is free. |
What you give up
Recommendation switch
Choose Insta360 Luna Pro. Luna removes those specific operating conflicts. Its remote microphone still has an external-input restriction.
Choose DJI Osmo Pocket 3. Pocket can avoid replacing an existing audio kit. Check the selected third-party seller and US warranty.
Choose neither. Neither has the required documented water protection. Choose a suitable protected setup or a different camera type.
What matters in practice
You want to be in the family video, but nobody is free to stand behind the camera.
