Main trade-off
OM SYSTEM OM-1 Mark II body
Movies use one card. Dual Same 6 still shooting continues with only one copy after a card fills.
Head-to-head
OM-1 II separates sound and power connections, while X-T5 can duplicate eligible movies. Choose OM-1 II for a forward-facing screen, dedicated microphone and headphones, wired remote and supported USB PD. Choose X-T5 for 40.2MP ordinary stills and configured movie copies in supported formats. Both offers are body-only. OM-1 II’s dual slots duplicate stills, but movies use only one selected card.
Before you choose
If your family expects both photographs and the recorded speech, X-T5’s eligible duplicate movie mode can matter more than either camera’s burst speed. OM-1 II duplicates stills but sends movies to one selected slot. Even its still-copy setting needs care: Dual Same 5 stops when either card fills, while Dual Same 6 keeps shooting to the remaining card and no longer creates two copies. On Fuji, confirm the selected format supports duplication and use suitable cards. Both need a separate home backup. The meaningful difference is which part of the event has a second copy before you leave.
What this is based on
Exact destination and card-full settings from both manuals. No quantified reliability or every-mode backup claim.

Main trade-off
Headphones use USB-C and the screen only tilts. Movie duplication is mode-dependent, not a universal guarantee.

OM-1 Mark II vs Fujifilm X-T5 for family events and outdoor stills. Check what two cards actually protect, cable conflicts and the lens cost behind the body.
These similarly placed enthusiast bodies both offer stabilization, cold-rated operation and two cards. Their recording connections and what those two cards actually duplicate create a meaningful decision.
Winner by situation
OM movies choose one card, while Fuji supports specified duplication modes.
Fuji uses its USB-C port for headphones.
OM has a vari-angle screen.
Fuji supplies 40.2MP single-exposure stills.

At home, a microphone, headphones, wired release and power supply may all be needed at once. OM-1 II provides separate microphone and headphone sockets, a 2.5mm remote connection and USB-C for its specified PD source. Its screen can face forward. X-T5 has separate microphone and remote sockets but uses USB-C for headphones, and its screen only tilts. That does not make Fuji unusable. It means you should work out the power and framing solution before buying it as a repeated solo-recording camera. Neither an unverified USB splitter nor the phrase USB-C establishes that every accessory can work together.
Official connector and screen inventory. Supported OM PD source still required. Direct connections only, no hub compatibility inferred.
X-T5 is 42g lighter on the stated battery-and-card basis and has more ordinary still pixels. That is useful context, but switching from an existing OM kit also changes the lens mount and spare batteries. A parent carrying a telephoto lens for sport should compare complete setups that produce the required framing. A nominal 100mm lens gives roughly 200mm-equivalent framing on Micro Four Thirds and 150mm on Fuji APS-C before extra crops. Those focal lengths do not establish equal lens size, aperture or image quality. Price and weigh the actual lens that does the job before treating the lighter body as the lighter purchase.
599-557=42g. Nominal framing 100×2=200 and 100×1.5=150. Illustrative lens focal length, not a recommended exact lens or equivalence claim for exposure.

Meaningful differences
| What changes | OM SYSTEM OM-1 Mark II body | Fujifilm X-T5 body | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|---|
| Card system | Two UHS-II SD | Two UHS-II SD | Identical slot counts hide a different movie-backup capability. |
| Movie destination | Slot 1 or Slot 2 | Supported configured duplication | Fuji can preserve two eligible copies during the recording. |
| Headphones and USB | Separate headphones and USB PD | USB-C headphone adapter | A monitoring cable can compete with the Fuji power connection. |
| Ordinary sensor resolution | 20.37MP | 40.2MP | Fuji has more nominal single-exposure pixels, with lens and focus still important. |
| Body with battery/card | 599g | 557g | Fuji is 42g lighter before the different lenses are counted. |
