Main trade-off
Fujifilm X-T5 body
Headphones occupy USB-C and the screen only tilts. Internal 6.2K is 16:9, with no internal ProRes.
Head-to-head
X-T5 keeps two SD cards, while X-H2 adds full HDMI and a separate headphone socket. Choose X-T5 for the lighter stills and two-SD event setup. Choose X-H2 when its side screen, 8K or internal ProRes serves a real recording job. ProRes requires CFexpress Type B and records only to that slot, so the SD card is not a simultaneous ProRes backup. Both offers are body-only.
Before you choose
For an important family event, both cameras can create supported still and movie copies when backup is configured. X-H2’s internal ProRes is the exception that can catch an upgrader: it records only to its CFexpress slot. The installed SD card does not receive the same ProRes take. If two simultaneous internal copies are the reason for upgrading, choose a supported compressed format and verify both cards, or keep X-T5’s familiar two-SD routine. ProRes may still help the editor, but that convenience needs a separate plan for protecting the original.
What this is based on
X-H2 ProRes restricted to Slot 1, both manuals document eligible duplication. No promise of backup across all formats.
Main trade-off
Headphones occupy USB-C and the screen only tilts. Internal 6.2K is 16:9, with no internal ProRes.
Main trade-off
103g heavier before the lens. ProRes is CFexpress-only and cannot be duplicated simultaneously to its SD card.

Fujifilm X-T5 vs X-H2 for event stills and a home video setup. See the ProRes backup exception, 8K portrait crop and the equipment the larger body needs.
The same 40MP X-mount buyer can choose a lighter stills-oriented body or a larger video-oriented body. Lens and battery continuity make this a close comparison, while recording media and connections can reverse the choice.
Winner by situation
X-T5 accepts both SD cards and saves 103g.
X-H2 has dedicated connections.
X-T5 lacks internal ProRes and X-H2 records it to Slot 1 only.
X-H2 8K has sufficient geometric crop room, with editing and mode limits.

Both bodies use X-mount lenses and NP-W235 batteries, which helps a shared household camera kit. The cards and cables tell a different story. X-H2 combines CFexpress Type B with SD and takes full-size HDMI. X-T5 takes two SD cards and micro HDMI. A home monitor already wired for full HDMI may make X-H2 easier to integrate, while a drawer of suitable SD cards favors X-T5. Count the reader and cable changes before treating the body price as the complete upgrade cost. Neither a card reader nor a lens is included in these body-only recommendations.
Verified lens mount, battery, card and connector inventory. Existing accessories are conditional, no universal speed or warranty equivalence.
X-H2’s 7680×4320 movie can yield a full-height 9:16 crop of 2430×4320, enough geometry for a 2160×3840 portrait output. X-T5’s 6240×3510 source yields roughly 1974×3510 instead. That can justify X-H2 for someone making a horizontal family film and a portrait version from one planned take. However, X-H2 excludes in-camera proxy recording at 8K at 29.97/25p. A laptop that needs lightweight editing copies must create them afterward or use another mode. Check that extra step before buying resolution that makes every Sunday edit harder.
Source height×9/16. X-H2 8K at 29.97/25p proxy restriction. Crop framing and stabilization limits apply, no measured computer-performance prediction.

Meaningful differences
| What changes | Fujifilm X-T5 body | Fujifilm X-H2 body | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|---|
| Large still dimensions | 7728×5152 | 7728×5152 | The larger body does not increase nominal still-file geometry. |
| Body with battery/card | 557g | 660g | X-T5 saves 103g with the same lens. |
| Recording cards | Two UHS-II SD | CFexpress Type B plus UHS-II SD | Two existing SD cards cannot fill X-H2. |
| Monitoring setup | Micro HDMI, USB-C headphones, tilt screen | Full HDMI, separate headphones, vari-angle screen | A repeated solo-video setup gives the larger body a clearer job. |
| Largest internal movie | 6240×3510 16:9 up to 29.97p | 7680×4320 16:9 up to 29.97p | X-H2 can preserve more portrait crop pixels, at a greater workflow cost. |

Recommendation switch
Choose Fujifilm X-T5 body. X-T5 keeps the simpler card kit and lighter carry.
