Main trade-off
Fujifilm X-T50 body
6.2K is 16:9, the screen tilts rather than faces forward, and headphones occupy USB-C.
Head-to-head
X-T50 keeps more still pixels, while X-S20 leaves more vertical room for video. Choose X-T50 for the smaller 40MP stills setup. Choose X-S20 when one take needs two orientations or you need a forward-facing screen and headphone monitoring without occupying USB-C. Both have IBIS and one card slot. Both offers exclude a lens, and their 6.2K modes stop around 30p.
Before you choose
A household wanting one camera for framed photographs and clips for relatives should check two different crop budgets. X-T50’s stills are 7728×5152, about 24% longer on each edge than X-S20’s 6240×4160. Yet X-T50’s 6.2K movie is only 3510 pixels tall, compared with X-S20’s 4160. A full-height 9:16 crop is roughly 1974×3510 on X-T50 and 2340×4160 on X-S20. The latter can supply a 2160×3840 portrait output without geometric upscaling, provided framing and any additional crop leave room. Neither claim establishes measured detail or a moving-subject hit rate.
What this is based on
7728/6240≈1.238. Portrait width=source height×9/16. Both 6.2K modes up to 29.97p, with mode and additional crop limits retained.
Main trade-off
6.2K is 16:9, the screen tilts rather than faces forward, and headphones occupy USB-C.
Main trade-off
Fewer still pixels and a 53g heavier body. Tall 6.2K is limited to about 30p and excludes digital IS.

Fujifilm X-T50 vs X-S20 for family photos, solo recording and two video edits. Compare the shape of 6.2K, headphone connections and existing battery kits.
Two compact stabilized Fuji bodies that fit a household wanting one camera for stills and video. Higher still resolution and a more useful solo-video setup pull the decision in different directions.
Winner by situation
X-T50 has longer still-file dimensions, with lens and focus quality still important.
X-S20 has the taller source. Deliberate framing and extra-crop limits remain.
X-T50’s supplied headphone adapter occupies USB-C.
X-S20 uses NP-W235.

If you film a lesson while the rest of the family is out, you may want to see the framing, hear the microphone and use external power at the same time. X-S20 provides a side-facing screen that can turn toward you and a separate headphone socket. X-T50 needs its USB-C headphone adapter, occupying the socket an ordinary direct USB power cable would use. A generic hub is not a verified solution here. Choose X-S20 when that combination repeats every week. X-T50 remains reasonable when video is occasional and an internal battery plus the adapter covers the session.
Documented screen and headphone paths. Physical socket occupancy inference. Exact power source and operating settings must still be checked.
Both bodies have sensor-shift stabilization, so a compatible non-OIS prime does not become completely unsupported merely because it lacks lens stabilization. That can help keep a small family bag simple for still scenes. The practical switch is elsewhere: X-T50 uses NP-W126S, while X-S20 uses NP-W235. If a partner already owns a compatible Fuji body, matching the battery family can reduce the number of chargers and labeled spares carried on a trip. Neither stabilization system stops a child moving through the frame, so shutter speed and available light still govern that photograph.
Verified IBIS and battery families. Shared-household accessory inference, with subject-motion limit. No relative stabilization effectiveness claimed.
