Main trade-off
Fujifilm X-T5 body
66g heavier. The screen tilts, headphones use USB-C and 6.2K applies a 1.23x additional crop.
Head-to-head
X-T5 can keep two eligible card copies, while X-S20 combines a forward-facing screen with separate headphone monitoring. Choose X-T5 for configured event copies and larger ordinary still files. Choose X-S20 for a smaller home filming setup and taller video crops. Both offers exclude lenses. X-T5 headphones occupy USB-C, and its 6.2K mode is cropped 16:9. X-S20 has one card and no digital stabilization in its 6.2K 3:2 mode. Both taller-resolution modes stop at 29.97p.
Before you choose
Both bodies accept compatible X lenses and NP-W235 batteries, so switching looks simple. At a desk, a solo presenter may need a forward view of the screen, headphones and external power together. X-S20 provides a screen that can face forward and a separate headphone socket. X-T5’s screen tilts, and its headphone adapter occupies USB-C. An external monitor or a different battery routine can make X-T5 workable, but those are extra setup decisions. A generic power-and-audio hub is not verified here. Choose X-S20 when you repeat this arrangement every week, and check the exact supported power settings before relying on it for a long session.
What this is based on
Exact screen, battery and connection inventory. Physical socket occupancy is the derived limitation, not a guaranteed runtime or universal accessory claim.

Main trade-off
One card. Optional FAN-001 is not included, and 6.2K 3:2 disables digital stabilization.

X-T5 vs X-S20 for family events, home filming and one-take social edits. Compare card copies, shared batteries and the different shapes behind 6.2K video.
The same X-mount buyer can choose either body without replacing compatible lenses or NP-W235 spares. The meaningful split is event protection and still crops versus a smaller, easier-to-monitor filming setup.
Winner by situation
X-T5 supports configured duplication.
X-S20 separates the connections and turns its screen forward.
X-S20 supplies 4160 rather than 3510 pixels of source height.
X-T5 provides 7728×5152 stills, with lens, focus and motion limits unchanged.

Both files are 6240 pixels wide, but X-T5 records 3510 pixels of height while X-S20 records 4160. A centered 9:16 crop leaves roughly 1974×3510 from X-T5 or 2340×4160 from X-S20. The latter covers a 2160×3840 portrait output before additional crops, while the former needs enlargement. This can matter when one family performance has to become a TV film and a phone-first clip. X-T5 also applies a 1.23x framing crop in this mode, which can make a small room harder to fit. X-S20’s taller mode removes digital stabilization. Both stop at 29.97p, so plan framing and support before the event rather than assuming the same 6.2K label means the same result.
3510×9/16≈1974 and 4160×9/16=2340. Exact modes, rates and crop limitations retained. No measured image-quality comparison.
X-T5 is 66g heavier before the same lens, but its second SD slot can create eligible still and movie copies during the event. X-S20’s one card cannot. If you are responsible for photographs and a speech that will not be repeated, that can be a useful reason to carry the larger body. Set Backup deliberately. Relay recording and splitting RAW and JPEG between cards do not create two complete identical copies. Both cameras share NP-W235 batteries, so the upgrade need not replace an existing compatible spare set. You still need an off-camera copy afterward, since two cards inside one body do not protect against the entire camera being lost.
557-491=66g, X-T5 configured duplication versus one X-S20 slot, same verified battery family. No quantified storage-failure risk.

Meaningful differences
| What changes | Fujifilm X-T5 body | Fujifilm X-S20 body | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|---|
| Internal cards | Two UHS-II SD | One UHS-II SD | Only X-T5 can make supported simultaneous internal copies. |
| Headphone monitoring | USB-C adapter | Separate 3.5mm socket | X-S20 keeps USB physically free for a supported power setup. |
| Screen | Three-direction tilt | Vari-angle, can face forward | A solo presenter needs to see the actual framing. |
| 6.2K movie source | 6240×3510, 16:9 and 1.23x crop | 6240×4160, 3:2 with no digital IS | The same width label conceals different vertical editing room. |
| Body and battery | 557g, NP-W235 | 491g, NP-W235 | A 66g difference does not require a new spare-battery family. |
