Main trade-off
TP-Link Deco BE63 3-pack
It has no 10Gbps Ethernet, so very fast NAS or internet links top out at 2.5Gbps per port.
Head-to-head
Choose Deco BE63 for several 2.5G connections around the house. Choose ASUS BT8 if local browser controls matter more and one fast room-to-room link is enough.
Before you choose
After a fast WAN and backhaul, BE63 has two fast local ports while BT8 has two gigabit ports.
What this is based on
BE63: 4 × 2.5G − WAN − backhaul = 2 × 2.5G. BT8: 2 × 2.5G consumed, leaving 2 × 1G.
Main trade-off
It has no 10Gbps Ethernet, so very fast NAS or internet links top out at 2.5Gbps per port.
Main trade-off
Using the fast LAN port for wired backhaul leaves only gigabit ports beside the gateway.

Compare Deco BE63 and ASUS ZenWiFi BT8 for wired rooms, fast NAS connections and day-to-day controls. Count the ports left after backhaul.
Winner by situation
BT8 uses its two fast sockets for WAN and backhaul.
ASUS provides the local administration workflow.
The selected BE63 kit contains three nodes. BT8 contains two.
Both have enough remaining sockets for two ordinary wired devices.
What matters in practice
After a fast WAN and backhaul, BE63 has two fast local ports while BT8 has two gigabit ports.
BE63: 4 × 2.5G − WAN − backhaul = 2 × 2.5G. BT8: 2 × 2.5G consumed, leaving 2 × 1G.
Its gateway has three 2.5G LAN sockets after WAN. BT8 has one.
Reserve the WAN port, then count remaining ports rated at least 2.5 Gbps.
Both include 6 GHz. The control interface and included protection are separate buying differences.
Manufacturer specifications list tri-band Wi-Fi 7 for both, Deco app management for BE63 and browser administration plus AiProtection Pro for BT8.
Check your own setup
Planning to connect your mesh nodes with Ethernet? Count the sockets before you buy. This checks direct cables from the main node to each satellite, without an extra network switch. These choices are examples until you apply yours.
The sockets cover this 2-node wired layout, leaving 1 unused gateway LAN socket. The selected internet-to-device path has a 1 Gb/s link ceiling before overhead, not a promised download speed.

Port speeds are physical link ratings, not Wi-Fi throughput. Cable quality, client adapters and network configuration still matter. All requested nodes must be included in the linked bundle. This assumes router mode with one internet socket and star wiring. PoE units also need a compatible power source, which this socket check does not size. A switch, access-point mode or another layout changes the result. It does not predict wireless coverage.

TP-Link, Deco BE63
A tri-band BE10000 mesh with 6 GHz, four 2.5Gbps ports and USB on each node.

ASUS, ZenWiFi BT8
A two-node choice for a fast wired link between floors while keeping two ordinary Ethernet devices beside each node.
Meaningful differences
| What changes | TP-Link Deco BE63 3-pack | ASUS ZenWiFi BT8 2-Pack | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|---|
| Ports per unit | 4 × 2.5G | 2 × 2.5G and 2 × 1G | The socket count ties, but only Deco keeps every socket at multi-gig speed. |
| After WAN and one fast backhaul | 2 × 2.5G free | 2 × 1G free | A local NAS has a different remaining connection. |
| Radio bands | 2.4, 5 and 6 GHz | 2.4, 5 and 6 GHz | Both are tri-band Wi-Fi 7. |
| Administration | Deco app and TP-Link account | ASUS app or local browser | Choose the control workflow you want to maintain. |
| Security package | HomeShield with paid tiers | AiProtection Pro included | Compare the specific family-control features rather than assuming every service is equivalent. |
| Selected package | 3 nodes | 2 nodes | A third location is included only with this BE63 listing. |
What you give up
What matters in practice
The BE63 wins this port-layout problem. The BT8 is more appealing to someone who wants to manage an ASUS network in a browser. Those are independent preferences, so decide which one you cannot compromise on.
A suitable multi-gig switch can add branches, but it occupies the fast LAN socket and changes the installation cost. It does not create a second dedicated fast socket on the router itself.
The linked packages contain different node counts. A cheaper two-pack is not necessarily a cheaper three-room solution once another node is added.
What the facts say
Useful conclusions from the current mesh Wi-Fi systems comparison, followed by the checked facts used to reach them.
20 of 35 models checked match every need here: “I have 2.5Gbps or 5Gbps wired devices” and “I can connect the mesh nodes with Ethernet”.
20 matching models from 35 checkedMatch countThe count uses the current product-to-need assignments for “I have 2.5Gbps or 5Gbps wired devices” and “I can connect the mesh nodes with Ethernet”. A need with no documented match does not count.
