Best for this need

A wired TV and console need three sockets at the mesh node

Our pick

TP-Link Deco X55 3-Pack

TP-Link Deco X55 3-Pack

Choose Deco X55 for a gigabit network or Deco BE63 for faster wired devices. Each needs one socket for the cable back to the router and at least two more for the TV and console. A two-port node needs an extra switch for this layout.

Why it fits this need

  • At least three Ethernet sockets at each wired satellite
  • An uplink that fits the internet and local network
Main trade-off
Every wired connection is limited to a 1 Gbps link rate.
Choose TP-Link Deco BE63 3-pack instead when
You want every connection at 2.5G or need a third wired device in the room.
More reasons behind this pick
  • No room switch required for two devices
  • Gateway port budget checked separately

Find mesh nodes that leave two device sockets after Ethernet backhaul. Compare gigabit and multi-gig options without adding a switch in every room.

What matters in practice

How to choose for this need

Count the room uplink before counting free sockets. Two local devices plus one uplink require three Ethernet ports.

01

The satellite specification is the important one

Some mesh systems give the main router more ports than the remote units. Orbi 770 has four connections at the gateway but only two on each satellite. Once a satellite is wired back, only one is free. Orbi 370 has just one satellite socket, so wired backhaul leaves none.

02

You do not need 10G to wire a television

For a gigabit internet service and ordinary entertainment devices, X55 solves the socket problem without demanding a faster network. BE63 is the more flexible choice when a fast PC or NAS joins the room. It has four 2.5G sockets, leaving three after the uplink.

03

The main router has its own cable count

A three-node star uses one internet socket and two satellite sockets at the main unit. X55 uses all three of its ports in that arrangement. BE63 has a fourth socket left for a local desktop or NAS. Add a switch if more cables need to converge there.

Worked example

What remains after the room cable is plugged in?

The same three-cable room is a direct fit for some mesh nodes and needs another switch with others.

FormulaFree device sockets = satellite Ethernet sockets − 1 wired uplink

  • One Ethernet cable connects each satellite to the network.
  • No daisy-chain cable or other local device uses an additional socket.
  • All listed ports are physical sockets, not shared combo connectors counted twice.
What remains after the room cable is plugged in?
ScenarioSatellite socketsFree after uplinkTV and console directly
Deco X553 × 1G2 × 1GYes
Deco BE634 × 2.5G3 × 2.5GYes, plus one more device
ASUS BT82 × 2.5G + 2 × 1G1 × 2.5G + 2 × 1GYes
Orbi 7702 × 2.5G1 × 2.5GNeeds a switch
Orbi 3701 × 2.5GNoneNeeds a switch

What that meansX55 is enough for two ordinary wired devices. BE63 gives another spare connection and raises every port to 2.5G.

Keep in mindThese are port counts and link rates, not measured streaming, latency or file-transfer results.

Check these before buying

  • List the devices in every room, then add one connection for wired backhaul.
  • Check satellite ports separately from gateway ports, especially on Orbi kits.

What this comparison cannot tell you

  • This example assumes direct Ethernet connections and no external room switch.
  • A wired connection does not remove limits in the device, internet service or streaming platform.

TP-Link Deco X55 3-Pack

TP-Link, Deco X55

Deco X55 3-Pack

Three Ethernet sockets per unit make this a useful fit for a wired home with a TV and console in the same room.

Winner whenConnecting a TV and console beside a wired satellite on a gigabit network

Decisive facts

  • Three Gigabit Ethernet ports per unit with automatic WAN and LAN assignment.
  • Dual-band Wi-Fi 6 with 160 MHz support on 5 GHz.

Trade-off

Every wired connection is limited to a 1 Gbps link rate.

02
TP-Link Deco BE63 3-pack

TP-Link, Deco BE63

Deco BE63 3-pack

A tri-band BE10000 mesh with 6 GHz, four 2.5Gbps ports and USB on each node.

Choose instead whenYou want every connection at 2.5G or need a third wired device in the room.

Decisive facts

  • The BE10000 tri-band design includes 2.4, 5 and 6 GHz radios with MLO.
  • Every node has four 2.5Gbps Ethernet ports and a USB 3.0 port.

Trade-off

It has no 10Gbps Ethernet, so very fast NAS or internet links top out at 2.5Gbps per port.

03
ASUS ZenWiFi BT8 2-Pack

ASUS, ZenWiFi BT8

ZenWiFi BT8 2-Pack

A two-node choice for a fast wired link between floors while keeping two ordinary Ethernet devices beside each node.

Choose instead whenYou want ASUS controls and a 2.5G uplink, with the TV and console using ordinary gigabit connections.

Decisive facts

  • Each node has one 2.5 Gbps WAN port, one 2.5 Gbps LAN port and two Gigabit LAN ports.
  • Tri-band Wi-Fi 7 with 2.4 GHz, 5 GHz and 6 GHz radios.

Trade-off

Using the fast LAN port for wired backhaul leaves only gigabit ports beside the gateway.
