Main trade-off
COROS NOMAD
Voice pins and a microphone do not provide independent calls. The body is 47.8 mm and 61 g with silicone.
Head-to-head
Choose NOMAD when its 130–210 mm supplied silicone band fits and map-linked notes cover your needs. Choose APEX 4 46 mm for its Sapphire lens, supported paired-phone call interface and higher published recording ceilings, provided the 140–215 mm band fits. Both use local MP3 transfer. APEX’s current table lists 24 daily-use days and 41 dual-frequency hours, not the 41 days in the retailer title.
Before you choose
At a 135 mm wrist, NOMAD’s supplied silicone band includes the measurement while APEX 4 46 mm’s starts at 140 mm. Yet APEX has the smaller case diameter. Its supplied package also weighs 64 g against NOMAD’s 61 g. A buyer ordering remotely should therefore check the strap and total package rather than choose APEX merely because the case number is smaller. A replacement band may alter the result, but it needs its own verified range. Neither listed fit guarantees comfort or correct sensor contact. This can be a stronger reason to choose NOMAD than the lens upgrade is to choose APEX.
What this is based on
Small wrist plus remote purchase crossed with exact band ranges, case size and total weight. No comfort or replacement-band assumption.

Main trade-off
The supplied band starts at 140 mm and the package is 64 g. The retail 41-day wording is not the current daily-use specification.
NOMAD vs APEX 4 46 mm for outdoor notes, a small wrist and calls with the phone packed away. Separate the 41-hour recording figure from daily battery.
These mapped MIP outdoor watches share local MP3 playback and a 1.3-inch display. A buyer can realistically choose NOMAD’s supplied fit and outdoor-note workflow or pay for APEX’s lens, calling interface and higher listed recording ceilings.
Winner by situation
APEX’s selected supplied band starts at 140 mm.
APEX adds the documented paired-phone call interface.
The cited dual-frequency-with-music gap is only one hour.
APEX’s call interface still uses the phone. NOMAD’s microphone is not an independent call service.

NOMAD’s microphone can record a location-linked thought to revisit after a walk. APEX adds a speaker for incoming calls through the connected phone, with the COROS app running. It cannot start a callback. If family may call while the phone is zipped in a pack, that interface can remove the need to unpack it, provided you stop somewhere suitable and the phone stays connected with service. It does not let the phone remain at home. If the outing mainly needs notes and maps, NOMAD may already cover the job. Do not infer call quality in wind or independence from a microphone symbol.
Family contact plus awkward phone storage versus recording a memory crossed with explicit voice functions. No independent cellular or hands-free safety claim.
APEX 4 46 mm lists 41 hours in dual-frequency mode against NOMAD’s 34. With music, the corresponding ceilings are 15 and 14 hours. A person who listens throughout a long outing should compare the one-hour combined-mode gap, not carry the seven-hour no-music gap into that plan. The retailer’s 41-day wording is another separate trap, because the official daily-use value is 24 days. These are manufacturer ceilings, not a matched test or a promise of finishing. Count the actual simultaneous features, stops and a reserve before deciding that APEX solves a charging problem.
Long outing plus continuous music crossed with mode-specific figures and a resolved retailer conflict. Differences are 41–34 hours and 15–14 hours. No guaranteed runtime.

|---|---|---|---|
| Exact supplied fit | 47.8 mm case, 61 g, silicone range 130–210 mm. | 46.2 mm case, 64 g, silicone range 140–215 mm. | A smaller case can have a higher band minimum and greater supplied weight. |

| Daily versus recording battery | Up to 22 daily-use days and 34 dual-frequency hours. | Up to 24 daily-use days and 41 dual-frequency hours. | The 41-hour activity number must not be published as 41 ordinary watch days. |
| Dual frequency with music | Up to 14 hours. | Up to 15 hours. | The seven-hour no-music gap narrows to one hour with music in the cited modes. |
What you give up
Recommendation switch
Choose COROS NOMAD. NOMAD meets those needs without the APEX band constraint.
Choose COROS APEX 4 46 mm. APEX provides those distinct benefits.
What matters in practice
You want the more capable outdoor watch, but a smaller case can still come with a less suitable band and a misleading retailer battery headline.
