Main trade-off
JBL Bar 1000MK2
It has the smaller driver arrangement. Standalone Bluetooth operation of its rear speakers has not been established by the exact-model evidence used here.
Head-to-head
Choose 1000MK2 when you want included battery rears and physical height drivers in the smaller installation. Choose the US 1300XMK2 when its larger speaker arrangement fits and you would use its documented standalone Bluetooth rear-speaker mode. Both already offer three HDMI inputs and close-up Night Listening. The flagship does not add source sockets or a longer published maximum rear runtime.
Before you choose
Room size alone is a poor way to pick between these systems. An open-plan family room may still leave only a narrow cabinet and a small patch of floor between the TV and a walkway. The 1300XMK2 central bar adds 176 mm of width, and its subwoofer occupies about 37% more rectangular floor area than the 1000MK2 sub. If that pushes equipment into a walking route or blocks cabinet use, the smaller complete system can be the better fit despite the large room. These measurements do not predict bass quality or how much space either system can fill.
What this is based on
1030 − 854 = 176 mm. (380 × 380) ÷ (325 × 325) − 1 = 36.7%. This is body footprint, not required clearance or acoustic room coverage.

It has the smaller driver arrangement. Standalone Bluetooth operation of its rear speakers has not been established by the exact-model evidence used here.
Main trade-off
The docked system is 55.3 inches wide, and the subwoofer needs more floor space. More drivers do not guarantee a better result in every room.
Compare JBL 1000MK2 and US 1300XMK2 for shared rooms, charging space, portable music and several players. See what the larger system adds and keeps unchanged.
Both are complete JBL systems with physical height drivers, detachable battery rears and three HDMI inputs. A buyer considering the flagship needs to know whether its larger equipment and portable-speaker capability serve a real household job.
Winner by situation
1000MK2 uses less cabinet width and subwoofer floor area. Room coverage has not been measured.
1300XMK2 has the documented standalone rear-speaker mode.
Both already provide these capabilities, subject to signal compatibility.
Both stop at three HDMI source inputs.
What matters in practice

1300XMK2’s detached speakers have a documented standalone Bluetooth mode, which gives them a potential second job for a workout or music away from the TV. That can justify the upgrade if those activities happen at different times from family films. If they happen together, borrowing the rear speakers leaves the theater without those rear positions. The 1000MK2’s verified Broadcasting mode is useful for carrying the same program elsewhere, but it is a different job from an independent portable-music session. We have not established standalone rear Bluetooth for 1000MK2 and do not assume it from the main bar’s Bluetooth specification.
1300XMK2 explicitly documents standalone Bluetooth pairing for detached speakers. 1000MK2 documents soundbar-linked Broadcasting. Removing a speaker from its theater position removes that physical rear position. Simultaneous independent full-theater performance is not promised.
If one person watches after the others go to bed, both models can bring the detached speakers close and mute the main bar and subwoofer. That shared mode may matter more often than the larger daytime speaker arrangement. The same applies to connection convenience: both keep three compatible HDMI sources attached. If those are the two problems you want to solve, 1000MK2 already covers them in a smaller body. Choose 1300XMK2 for a use you can name beyond late listening or more sockets, while checking the current complete offers.
Both exact-model records confirm rear-only Night Listening, three HDMI inputs and an up-to-ten-hour rear runtime. No sleep guarantee, sound-pressure reduction or savings amount is inferred.
Try your real numbers
Measure the clear space in front of your TV. Count devices you want to plug into the soundbar, not devices already connected to the TV. The numbers below are examples until you enter yours.
A cabinet dimension or the selected connection is not confirmed for this exact model.
It needs 55.3 inches of width with its detachable speakers docked, more than your 48 inches.
Use an open top surface, not an enclosed cubby. Detachable speakers are counted in the docked width. Allow extra depth for cables and the TV stand. This checks physical dimensions and port counts, not Dolby Atmos, 4K/120Hz passthrough or your TV’s audio-format support.

|---|---|---|---|
| Undocked central bar | 854 mm wide and 52 mm high | 1030 mm wide and 58 mm high | The flagship takes more room even when the rear speakers are behind the sofa. |
| Docked charging width | 1203 mm, about 47.4 inches | 1404 mm, about 55.3 inches | The charging arrangement adds another cabinet constraint. |
| Subwoofer body footprint | 325 by 325 mm | 380 by 380 mm | 1300XMK2 occupies about 37% more rectangular floor area before clearance. |
| Rear-speaker music role | Same-program Broadcasting from the soundbar documented | Broadcasting plus standalone Bluetooth pairing documented | For an independent portable-music job, 1300XMK2 provides the verified route. |
| Direct HDMI sources | Three inputs | Three inputs | The flagship does not solve a fourth direct player. |
| Battery and Night Listening | Up to ten hours, with rear-only Night Listening | Up to ten hours, with rear-only Night Listening | Charging and quieter close-up use do not disappear or materially change just because the system is larger. |
What you give up
Recommendation switch
Choose JBL Bar 1000MK2. 1000MK2 preserves battery rears, height drivers and three inputs with a smaller body and sub.
Choose JBL Bar 1300X MK2. 1300XMK2 documents this additional portable use.
Choose neither. The published runtime ceiling and input count do not increase.
What matters in practice
You want a substantial movie system, but the flagship also has to fit the cabinet, the floor beside it and the way the room is used between films.
