Main trade-off
TIMEMORE C5 Pro
Its 31-micron steps give less fine adjustment than the ESP model. This can matter when the espresso recipe needs a setting between two clicks.
Head-to-head
Choose C5 Pro for a regular filter recipe if its complete offer costs less and you do not need finer espresso adjustment. Choose C5 ESP Pro when small espresso corrections matter, or espresso is a planned part of the same household routine. Both fold, weigh about 640 g and have a 25 g recommended load. ESP does not add batch capacity or external adjustment.
Before you choose
If one of you makes a repeatable pour-over and the other keeps tweaking espresso, ESP has a specific job. Its smaller steps address the espresso adjustment gap while keeping the same burr model. The cost is remembering a setting across multiple dial turns, not a larger body. Save each person’s complete recipe and start from the maker’s guidance. The finer dial does not make either recipe automatic or let you copy the same setting from C5 Pro.
What this is based on
Shared S2C-042-III burr and body. Adjustment is 31 versus 15 microns, with one versus three stated dial rotations. The household recommendation concerns adjustment workflow, not measured cup quality.
Main trade-off
Its 31-micron steps give less fine adjustment than the ESP model. This can matter when the espresso recipe needs a setting between two clicks.
Main trade-off
The extra dial precision leaves the catch-cup removal step unchanged. You still access the adjustment underneath the burrs.

C5 Pro or C5 ESP Pro for a shared coffee routine? Compare the finer espresso dial, recipe switching and the 25 g loading limit both models keep.
These are two versions of the same portable hand-grinder platform. Buyers choosing the standard or espresso dial need to know which daily task changes and which limits stay the same.
Winner by situation
C5 Pro keeps the shared burr and folding body. Finer espresso adjustment may be unnecessary.
ESP uses 15-micron steps rather than 31. Shot behavior still depends on the recipe and beans.
The finer dial addresses the more demanding adjustment need, with full settings recorded.
Both manuals set a 25 g loading recommendation.
Both handles fold. It is not an ESP-only benefit.

Take a 30 g recipe for two people. Both manuals tell you to load no more than 25 g, even though the store lists a 30 g chamber. Divide the dose and collect the grounds before brewing. Buying ESP does not avoid that second loading step, and its 25 g cup is also unchanged. If a single uninterrupted larger batch is the point of the purchase, look beyond this pair rather than treating the espresso label as a capacity upgrade.
Example recipe is 30 g. Both manuals recommend at most 25 g per load. 30 exceeds 25, independently of bean density or the nominal chamber volume.
Both handles fold and both bodies have the same listed dimensions and weight. If you make only filter coffee at work, choose between them on the complete current price and whether espresso is genuinely on your horizon. The standard model does not leave you with a loose straight crank. Conversely, buying ESP for future espresso does not add weight according to the published body specifications.
Both models list the same 53 by 172 mm body, approximately 640 g weight and folding handle. Carrying cases, beans and other kit are excluded.

Meaningful differences
| What changes | TIMEMORE C5 Pro | TIMEMORE C5 ESP Pro | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|---|
| Adjustment step | 31 microns per click | 15 microns per click | The ESP dial allows smaller burr-position changes. This does not establish a flavor or extraction score. |
| Recipe range on the dial | 48 clicks per rotation, range within one rotation | 50 clicks per rotation, range across three rotations | Record the full setting for ESP, including rotations, rather than only the printed number. |
| Access to adjustment | Internal dial, remove catch cup first | Internal dial, remove catch cup first | Two people changing recipes still repeat the same physical access step. |
| Recommended loading | Up to 25 g in the manual | Up to 25 g in the manual | The 30 g chamber specification is not permission to exceed the operating recommendation. |
| Body and packing | 53 mm body diameter, 172 mm high, about 640 g, folding handle | 53 mm body diameter, 172 mm high, about 640 g, folding handle | The ESP upgrade changes adjustment rather than the space or weight you carry. |
| Burr set | 42 mm S2C-042-III | 42 mm S2C-042-III | A shared burr designation gives no basis for claiming the standard version makes worse filter coffee. |
