Main trade-off
MiiCoffee DF54 Single Dose Coffee Grinder
It grinds more slowly than the larger DF64 and DF83 platforms.
Head-to-head
Choose the DF54 for a simple metal-bodied espresso setup centered on a scale and bellows. Choose Opus 2 if one grinder needs to serve espresso and larger filter brews. Its 100 g load bin, automatic stop and two included cups reduce the handling involved when your brew size changes.
Before you choose
Opus 2 can accept a 60 g carafe dose at once. DF54 needs at least two loads because its bellows-equipped capacity is 50 g.
What this is based on
Minimum loads = ceiling(recipe grams / stated load capacity). Ceiling(60 / 100) = 1 and ceiling(60 / 50) = 2.
Main trade-off
It grinds more slowly than the larger DF64 and DF83 platforms.
Main trade-off
It offers no screen, dose timer or grind-by-weight control.

DF54 or Opus 2? Compare single-dose capacity, espresso cups, stepless control and the extra steps behind a large filter brew.
Winner by situation
The Opus 2 takes the complete dose in its larger bin and catch.
That recipe sits comfortably below either stated bean capacity.
Fellow specifies automatic stop while DF54 uses manual power control.
Opus 2 includes a compatible espresso catch, so fewer accessories may be needed.
What matters in practice
Opus 2 can accept a 60 g carafe dose at once. DF54 needs at least two loads because its bellows-equipped capacity is 50 g.
Minimum loads = ceiling(recipe grams / stated load capacity). Ceiling(60 / 100) = 1 and ceiling(60 / 50) = 2.
Fellow's 30 g espresso catch cannot hold that same 60 g recipe in one collection. Use the separate 100 g catch.
The Opus 2 includes two catches rated at 30 g and 100 g. The recommendation assumes the larger cup is installed.
Both grinders allow changes between marked dial positions, leaving workflow as the more useful distinction.
MiiCoffee and Fellow each specify stepless adjustment on these exact generations.

MiiCoffee, DF54 v1.5
A compact 54 mm flat-burr grinder with stepless control and plasma static management at an accessible point in the premium field.

Fellow, 1222MB-NA
A compact second-generation all-rounder with stepless control, an ionizer and two magnetic cups sized for filter and espresso routines.
Meaningful differences
| What changes | MiiCoffee DF54 Single Dose Coffee Grinder | Fellow Opus 2 Conical Burr Grinder | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|---|
| Maximum bean load | 50 g with bellows | 100 g | A 60 g carafe recipe fits in one Opus 2 load but exceeds the DF54 chamber capacity. |
| Adjustment | Stepless | Stepless | Neither relies on the original Opus grinder's stepped adjustment arrangement. |
| Stopping | Manual power control | Automatic stop | Opus 2 removes one action after the beans finish grinding. |
| Body | Powder-coated aluminum | Mixed-material lightweight construction | The DF54 suits buyers who value a substantial small machine. |
What you give up
What matters in practice
For a mixed espresso and carafe household, let your largest usual dose settle the first question.
The second-generation Fellow has a stepless side dial and 48 mm conical burrs. Advice about the original model's inner adjustment ring does not describe this machine. That matters because both products here now offer continuous grind adjustment, so the sensible decision moves toward capacity, cup handling and the way you finish a dose.
Splitting beans into two loads means measuring the total dose, keeping track of both portions and combining the grounds before brewing. The DF54 can do it, but a 60 g weekend carafe is easier to manage in the Opus 2's 100 g loading bin and standard cup. If your largest recipe is an 18 g espresso, that extra capacity does very little for you.
Fellow's espresso catch holds 30 g and supports 54 mm or 58 mm portafilters. The DF54's supplied cup is 58 mm. Neither makes a portafilter diameter irrelevant, and neither replaces a scale. Choose the package that fits your machine without turning a simple morning coffee into a collection of transfer adapters.
