Main trade-off
Kanto YU4
Smaller cabinets are not proof of equal bass or output. No measured sound comparison is available here.
Head-to-head
Choose YU4 when the speakers share a desk with a monitor and paperwork. YU4 saves 2.8 inches of combined cabinet width. Choose YU6 when its larger cabinets fit and you specifically want that larger speaker platform, ideally after listening. Both original models keep the powered speaker on the left and have charging-only USB. Neither adds computer USB audio or HDMI TV control. A compatible MM turntable can connect directly to either.
Before you choose
A pair of YU4 cabinets totals 11 inches of body width. YU6 totals 13.8 inches. That 2.8-inch difference can matter when a monitor and an open notebook share the desk, while the depth difference is only 0.6 inch per cabinet. Measure both speaker positions before assuming the larger model needs a completely different room. These sums exclude listening spacing and rear clearance.
What this is based on
2 × 5.5 = 11 inches and 2 × 6.9 = 13.8 inches. 8.1 − 7.5 = 0.6 inch. Body measurements only.

Main trade-off
YU6 adds size without adding USB audio, HDMI or flexible powered-speaker placement.

Original Kanto YU4 vs YU6 for a desk, records and TV. Compare usable furniture space, the fixed powered side and the USB connection both lack.
The original YU4 and YU6 are direct size alternatives with the same core source connections. These are the original models, not the newer G2 versions.
Winner by situation
YU4 saves 2.8 inches of combined body width.
Neither original model has USB audio input.
Both have a phono setting.
Both original models fix it on the left.

If the desk’s only accessible power socket and computer dock sit on the right, both original models place their powered cabinet on the opposite side. Source and power cables must reach the left cabinet without crossing a walking route. Buying YU6 does not unlock a side selector. Decide whether that cable route is acceptable before choosing either size, especially where the desk is moved for cleaning or a child uses the space too.
Fixed active-left design applied to a stated room layout. No unsafe cable routing or electrical modification is recommended.
A household replacing an older laptop with a USB-only model should not mistake the rear USB socket for an audio input. Both original YU models use it for charging. You need a suitable analog adapter, an optical route where available, or Bluetooth. If direct computer USB is the reason for changing speakers, neither of these exact generations fixes the problem. The G2 feature list must not be applied to the original Amazon models.
The generation-specific input list distinguishes charging from USB audio. No assumption that a particular work computer permits Bluetooth or adapters.

Meaningful differences
| What changes | Kanto YU4 | Kanto YU6 | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|---|
| Cabinet width | 5.5 inches each | 6.9 inches each | Two YU6 cabinets occupy 2.8 inches more combined body width. |
| Cabinet depth | 7.5 inches | 8.1 inches | Depth grows by 0.6 inch, before either has rear clearance. |
| Powered side | Fixed left | Fixed left | Size does not change where power and sources must arrive. |
| Laptop USB | USB-A charging only | USB-A charging only | A USB socket on the rear does not make either a USB speaker. |
| Records and optical audio | Switchable phono/line, auxiliary, two optical inputs | Switchable phono/line, auxiliary, two optical inputs | Both accept the same basic source plan. |
What you give up
Recommendation switch
Choose Kanto YU4. YU4 retains the input set in narrower cabinets.
Choose Kanto YU6. YU6 is the larger size option, without extra connection capabilities.
What matters in practice
You want a larger pair for evenings without crowding the desk used every weekday. Extra cabinet size does not solve an unsuitable source connection.
