Vantrue N5 vs VIOFO A329S 3CH: N5 adds a second cabin angle, A329S offers a separate SSD driving archive
The short answer
Choose N5 if a second physical cabin viewpoint is essential, after checking safe installation and actual passenger framing. Choose A329S 3CH if one cabin view works and a removable SSD driving archive matters. Its compatible SSD and VIOFO cable cost extra. Select SSD storage with Privacy Mode off. SSD and microSD are alternative targets, not simultaneous backup. Hybrid and Low Power Impact parking remain microSD-only. Neither kit meets both requirements. N5’s 512GB versus 1TB card limit is unresolved. Neither camera guarantees complete coverage or a fixed retention time.
Before you choose
The reasoning and the trade-offs
An extra viewing position answers a different question from lens width
N5’s second cabin position can help when a seat, headrest or passenger blocks the front view. It earns the purchase only if both safely mounted views frame what you need. A329S has one cabin position, however wide its lens. Keep your storage routine unchanged while checking this difference.
What this is based on
The manuals establish lens positions. They do not establish unobstructed coverage of every seat in your vehicle.
Main trade-off
Vantrue N5
The extra cabin angle still needs safe mounting and checked framing. Card and parking power cost extra. N5’s 512GB versus 1TB ceiling is unresolved, and its inspected manual does not establish SSD recording.
Main trade-off
VIOFO A329S 3CH
One cabin viewpoint must be enough. The compatible SSD and VIOFO cable are extra. Select SSD with Privacy Mode off. It is not simultaneous card backup. All three cameras limit the front feed to 4K30.
N5
Vantrue N5
Choose it for
Choose N5 for two physical cabin viewpoints, with front and rear-road recording. Both views must show the passengers you need from a safe inside-window installation and cable route. Obstructions can remain. If one cabin viewpoint is enough, the extra angle stops deciding the purchase.

About this comparison
Compare Vantrue N5 and VIOFO A329S 3CH by cabin viewpoints, removable driving archives, installation needs and parking-storage limits.
Both kits include front-road, rear-road and cabin recording. Decide whether you need another cabin viewpoint or a removable driving archive.
Winner by situation
Start with what you need it to do
A second physical cabin position is a hard requirement
N5 supplies two cabin viewpoints. Check both from safe inside-window mounts with a safe cable route. Seats and occupants can still block the subject. A329S has only one cabin camera, so it cannot meet a firm two-position requirement.
Vantrue N5
Better fit
VIOFO A329S 3CH
Not suitable
Either cabin layout works, and driving footage should leave the car on an SSD
A329S supports removal of its recording drive when one safely installed cabin view works. A compatible SSD and VIOFO cable are extra. Select SSD with Privacy Mode off. It is not simultaneous microSD backup. Hybrid and Low Power Impact parking stay microSD-only. N5 documents card export instead.
Vantrue N5
Caution
VIOFO A329S 3CH
Better fit
Two cabin positions and the documented SSD recording workflow are both mandatory
Neither kit combines two cabin viewpoints with the documented SSD recording workflow. N5 has the second angle but no SSD recording route in its inspected manual. A329S has one cabin camera. If both are essential, check a different complete system.
Vantrue N5
Not suitable
VIOFO A329S 3CH
Not suitable
The rear camera must be exposed to rain or cannot be mounted safely inside
Neither standard inside-window rear kit fits an outside-in-rain installation or a car with no safe rear-window mount and cable route. Check visibility and airbag clearance. A329S waterproof-rear packages are different purchases.
Vantrue N5
Not suitable
VIOFO A329S 3CH
Not suitable
One cabin view and ordinary microSD export meet the entire job
Neither headline advantage settles this choice. Check safe mounting, passenger framing, separate cards and the power needed for your recording mode. Similar does not mean equal image quality. Do not infer a retention winner from N5’s unresolved 512GB versus 1TB limit.

What matters in practice
The differences that matter
01
An extra viewing position answers a different question from lens width
N5’s second cabin position can help when a seat, headrest or passenger blocks the front view. It earns the purchase only if both safely mounted views frame what you need. A329S has one cabin position, however wide its lens. Keep your storage routine unchanged while checking this difference.
How we reached this conclusion
The manuals establish lens positions. They do not establish unobstructed coverage of every seat in your vehicle.
02
The archive choice still matters when both cabin layouts work
A329S lets you take the recording SSD to a computer while N5 uses card export. This matters only if one safely installed cabin view is enough. The compatible SSD and VIOFO cable are extra. Select SSD with Privacy Mode off, without simultaneous card backup. Hybrid and Low Power Impact parking stay microSD-only. Card export is sufficient if this removal routine adds no value.
How we reached this conclusion
The manual documents SSD selection, removal and playback. N5’s disputed card ceiling cannot support a retention ratio, and card-only parking does not gain SSD capacity.
03
Stop when the complete requirement has no supported fit
Neither kit supplies both two cabin viewpoints and the documented SSD workflow. Neither standard rear camera belongs outside in rain or bypasses an unsafe cable route. Accepting one well-framed cabin position can reopen A329S. Accepting microSD export can reopen N5. Change the requirement before buying.
How we reached this conclusion
The documented camera positions, storage routes and inside-window mounts leave these combined requirements unmet.

Vantrue, N5
N5
N5 has a cabin lens on both its front and rear modules. Safe mounting and checked framing matter more than camera count. It records to a separate microSD card. The 512GB versus 1TB limit remains unresolved.
Best matched use
Choose N5 for two physical cabin viewpoints, with front and rear-road recording. Both views must show the passengers you need from a safe inside-window installation and cable route. Obstructions can remain. If one cabin viewpoint is enough, the extra angle stops deciding the purchase.

VIOFO, A329S 3CH
A329S 3CH
A329S 3CH includes one IR fisheye cabin camera and an inside-window rear camera. All three feeds mean front 4K30. The optional SSD driving archive needs a separate compatible drive and VIOFO cable, SSD selected and Privacy Mode off. It is not simultaneous backup. Hybrid and Low Power Impact parking use microSD only.
Best matched use
Choose A329S 3CH when one safely installed, well-framed cabin view is enough and you want a removable driving archive. Buy a compatible SSD and VIOFO SSD cable separately. Select SSD storage with Privacy Mode off. SSD and microSD are alternative targets, not simultaneous backup. Hybrid and Low Power Impact parking remain microSD-only. If card export is enough, skip the SSD expense.
Checked facts
Where the cabin is viewed from: One separate IR fisheye cabin camera near the front
Taking driving footage to a computer: Optional removable SSD, up to 4TB
Keeping an archive instead of only recent files: Privacy Mode must be off for a normal driving archive
What the SSD does not change while parked: Hybrid and Low Power Impact use microSD only
Meaningful differences between Vantrue N5 and VIOFO A329S 3CH
What changes
Vantrue N5
VIOFO A329S 3CH
Why it matters
Where the cabin is viewed from
Vantrue N5Front and rear modules each have an IR cabin view
VIOFO A329S 3CHOne separate IR fisheye cabin camera near the front
Why it mattersN5 offers a second physical observation point. A329S places its one cabin camera separately from the front-road unit, but a wider lens still looks from one position. Seats, headrests, luggage and occupants can obstruct either layout. Check actual footage before treating either as suitable for every passenger.
Taking driving footage to a computer
Vantrue N5microSD export. No documented SSD recording route
VIOFO A329S 3CHOptional removable SSD, up to 4TB
Why it mattersA329S can record to a separately purchased compatible SSD, then connect that drive to a computer with a data cable. This changes the export routine even when either cabin layout works. Select one recording target, retain independent copies of important clips and do not add card and SSD capacities together. N5 can also export its card files, so SSD is a different workflow rather than the only way to save footage.
Keeping an archive instead of only recent files
Vantrue N5Confirm card limit and export event files promptly
VIOFO A329S 3CHPrivacy Mode must be off for a normal driving archive
Why it mattersN5’s selected listing says 512GB while the current manual and support say 1TB. No settled ceiling or retention ratio is used. Its event folder can replace old files at 30 percent of card capacity. A329S Privacy Mode keeps only the latest six normal files in 3CH with one-minute loops. Turning it off removes that deliberate short-history restriction, but does not guarantee a retention duration or prevent ordinary overwrite.
What the SSD does not change while parked
Vantrue N5microSD, continuous power and a selected parking mode
VIOFO A329S 3CHHybrid and Low Power Impact use microSD only
Why it mattersThe A329S SSD does not expand those two parking modes. Buy the card and compatible hardwire kit separately. Hybrid must have a time or voltage transition set, and voltage control needs HK6. N5 ordinary time-lapse excludes its parking modes. Neither camera promises overnight operation regardless of battery cutoff, power loss or cabin heat.
Recording all included views together
Vantrue N51944p front plus three 1080p feeds, all 30 fps
VIOFO A329S 3CH4K30 front plus 2K30 rear and cabin
Why it mattersKeep the all-camera configuration intact when comparing modes. A329S 4K60 belongs to fewer-channel modes with HDR off, not all three cameras at once. N5’s extra cabin view does not raise its front resolution. These recording dimensions and rates do not establish readable plates, better cabin identification or comparative night performance.
What you give up
Every choice has a cost
If you choose Vantrue N5
Parking needs continuous power with ordinary time-lapse off. Vantrue advises shutdown at 60 degrees Celsius. Event files can be overwritten, so export important clips.
If you choose VIOFO A329S 3CH
Hybrid and Low Power Impact parking use microSD only with compatible hardwire power. The SSD cannot enlarge those modes. Heat and battery cutoff can stop recording.
Recommendation switch
The decision flips if...
Two physical cabin viewpoints are essential
Choose Vantrue N5. Choose N5 for two physical cabin viewpoints, with front and rear-road recording. Both views must show the passengers you need from a safe inside-window installation and cable route. Obstructions can remain. If one cabin viewpoint is enough, the extra angle stops deciding the purchase.
One cabin viewpoint is enough and a removable SSD driving archive matters
Choose VIOFO A329S 3CH.
Two cabin viewpoints and the documented SSD workflow must be in one system
Choose neither. Neither kit combines two cabin viewpoints with the documented SSD recording workflow. N5 has the second angle but no SSD recording route in its inspected manual. A329S has one cabin camera. If both are essential, check a different complete system.
There is no safe inside-window rear installation
Choose neither. Neither standard inside-window rear kit fits an outside-in-rain installation or a car with no safe rear-window mount and cable route. Check visibility and airbag clearance. A329S waterproof-rear packages are different purchases.
What matters in practice
Before you choose
Decide whether a second cabin position is mandatory, then choose how you will retain and remove driving footage.
Check these before buying
Keep the original N5 four-channel base kit and A329S 3CH front, fisheye cabin and standard inside-window rear kit. N5S, A329S 2CH, waterproof-rear and telephoto packages are different purchases. Check the seller’s actual package, condition, cables and return terms. No current price, stock or delivery advantage is claimed.
N5 includes the rear module, GPS mount, vehicle charger and 20-foot rear cable. A microSD card, CPL filter, remote and parking hardwire kit are separate. A329S 3CH includes the cabin and rear cameras and a front CPL, but card, SSD, SSD cable and hardwire kit are separate. The family manual labels secondary cameras optional because it covers other packages too. That does not remove the cameras from this selected 3CH kit.
Before fixing the mounts, power the cameras and check every road and cabin view with normal seat and headrest positions. N5’s rear-cabin lens must face into the vehicle, following the orientation diagram. A329S’s cabin camera uses its own cable to the main unit. Measure both complete cable routes rather than choosing a length from a vehicle-size label. Keep equipment and wiring clear of driver visibility, controls and airbags. Standard rear modules belong inside the rear window.
Use the appropriate vehicle power supply through the GPS mount. N5’s supplied charger is the documented driving connection, not an assumed USB-C PD fast-charger substitute. On A329S, the main-body USB-C socket is also the SSD/data port and does not support hardwire parking power. Use the GPS mount’s power port for the hardwire installation. The short data cable supplied for transfer is not the vehicle charging or dedicated SSD cable.
For the A329S archive, verify the exact portable SSD against current manufacturer compatibility guidance, buy the VIOFO Type-C SSD cable, format to exFAT before use and select External SSD in Video Storage. Formatting erases existing data. Secure the drive without obstructing the driver and keep it out of high heat. VIOFO recommends a 0 to 60 degrees Celsius SSD environment. Check recorded files after installation and retain copies elsewhere.
Turn A329S Privacy Mode off when the goal is a driving archive. With it on, 3CH retains only the latest six normal files and uses one-minute loops. Manage SSD Storage can explicitly copy the last 24 hours, seven days or all available microSD files to the SSD. That command is separate from normal recording to one selected target. It cannot restore files already overwritten. No automatic simultaneous duplicate recording is promised.
To review SSD footage, remove the drive and connect it to a computer with the data cable, then open its DCIM videos in VIOFO Player. With a usable microSD card already inserted, A329S switches new recording to that card after SSD removal. Without the card it asks for one. Check the active target after reconnecting the SSD rather than assuming an old archive choice remains selected.
If A329S Hybrid or Low Power Impact parking matters, install a separate high-endurance microSD card and compatible VIOFO hardwire kit through the GPS mount. Both modes save only to microSD. Hybrid needs either Cut-off Time or Cut-off Voltage set, and voltage-based switching specifically needs HK6. Its transition into impact detection is not a promise of continuous video afterward. Time-lapse parking omits audio. VIOFO advises turning the camera off above 60 degrees Celsius inside the car.
N5 parking needs stable continuous power and ordinary time-lapse off. Vantrue advises switching off at 60 degrees Celsius in the car. Powered motion detection can add ten seconds before movement to its thirty-second clip, but that is not collision-detection prebuffer. Event locking is disabled with loop recording off or ordinary time-lapse on. Export important event and parking clips promptly because their folders are not permanent archives.
N5’s selected listing gives 512GB while its current manual and support give 1TB. Confirm exact card and firmware compatibility before buying a larger card. This comparison leaves the maximum unresolved. A329S lists up to 512GB microSD or a separate compatible SSD up to 4TB. File load, modes, protected clips and actual formatting affect usable retention, so no cross-model multiplier or promised number of days is given.
What this comparison cannot tell you
This is a manufacturer-document comparison, not a hands-on test of plate readability, cabin coverage, night performance, transfer speed, heat endurance or reliability. Camera count and resolution do not establish those results.
A second physical cabin viewpoint and a removable driving archive are independent decisions. Both selected kits already include a rear-road camera, so rear-road coverage itself is not an N5-only benefit. The full-resolution mode table qualifies the choice rather than supplying another tested-performance win.
The N5 manual does not document the A329S SSD recording workflow. That is a bounded evidence statement, not proof that every possible external recording accessory is incompatible. Neither selected kit establishes two cabin positions and this SSD workflow together.
A329S’s retained manufacturer image includes a CNET promotional badge. It is not a BestProductFit test or verified award. The N5 phone and sample scenes are illustrative. No supplied phone, live cloud archive, guaranteed overnight recording or automatic redundant recording is claimed.
