Main trade-off
Flashforge AD5X
Open construction cannot supply regulated chamber heat
Head-to-head
Choose AD5X when four colors and a 220 mm open-frame printer cover the project. Choose K2 Plus Combo when the one-piece model exceeds that envelope or the material profile needs its heated enclosure. Both selected packages start with four automatic spool positions.
Before you choose
Both selected packages include four automatic spool positions.
What this is based on
The exact AD5X and K2 Plus Combo packages each contain one four-position feeder system. Creality's sixteen-color maximum requires extra CFS hardware beyond this selected package.

Compare AD5X and K2 Plus Combo for four-color models that need a larger bed, a heated enclosure or room for later color expansion.

Winner by situation
Both included color systems cover four spool positions for compatible filament.
Only K2 Plus has the required nominal bed footprint.
AD5X is open while K2 Plus documents a 60 C heated chamber.
The supplied K2 package also starts at four colors and needs additional compatible CFS hardware.
What matters in practice
Both selected packages include four automatic spool positions.
The exact AD5X and K2 Plus Combo packages each contain one four-position feeder system. Creality's sixteen-color maximum requires extra CFS hardware beyond this selected package.
K2 Plus leaves 50 mm of total nominal bed width beyond a 300 mm square. AD5X is 80 mm too narrow.
The example requires a flat 300 mm square. Subtracting that width from each nominal bed gives 50 mm remaining on K2 Plus and an 80 mm shortfall on AD5X.
K2 Plus combines a 350 C nozzle limit with a 60 C actively heated enclosure, while AD5X is an open 300 C platform.
The comparison combines two separate manufacturer limits: AD5X is open with a 300 C hotend, while K2 Plus has a 350 C hotend and active chamber heating up to 60 C.

Flashforge, AD5X
The printer provides 220 × 220 × 220 mm build volume. The print area uses an open-frame layout.

Creality, K2 Plus Combo
The printer provides 350 × 350 × 350 mm build volume. The print area is enclosed.
Meaningful differences
| What changes | Flashforge AD5X | Creality K2 Plus Combo | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|---|
| Build envelope | 220 x 220 x 220 mm | 350 x 350 x 350 mm | A 300 mm square part exceeds AD5X but lies inside the K2 Plus nominal bed. |
| Enclosure and chamber | Open frame | Enclosed with active chamber heating up to 60 C | Material profiles requiring chamber heat are a hard distinction. |
| Maximum nozzle temperature | 300 C | 350 C | A supported profile needing more than 300 C exceeds the AD5X stated ceiling. |
| Included automatic spool positions | 4 through IFS | 4 through one CFS | The K2 Plus 16-color headline does not describe the supplied single-CFS package. |
| Nominal bed area | 48,400 square mm | 122,500 square mm | K2 Plus offers about 2.53 times the square-bed area before print margins. |
What you give up
Recommendation switch
Choose Creality K2 Plus Combo. The 350 mm cube gives the larger nominal envelope.
Choose Flashforge AD5X. AD5X supplies the required four-position IFS without needing the larger hardware envelope.
Choose neither. Both selected packages include four automatic spool positions.
What matters in practice
If all models fit the AD5X envelope and use supported materials, four-color capability alone does not force the K2 Plus purchase. The K2 maximum of sixteen colors requires additional CFS units. Verify feeder compatibility for the exact material, since flexible filament support at the printer does not establish automatic-feeder support.
This is a fit decision for a square laid flat, independent of advertised speed. K2 Plus supplies a 350 mm square bed against 220 mm on AD5X. Account for brims and slicing exclusions, then measure the printer's installed footprint and service access separately.
Match those limits against the filament manufacturer's profile. A requirement for active chamber heating removes AD5X from that specific workflow. The higher limits still do not validate every high-temperature material, drying requirement or finished-part strength claim.
