Main trade-off
WiiM Amp
The current Dolby hub setup list names Amp Pro and Amp Ultra, rather than the original Amp.
Head-to-head
Choose the original WiiM Amp if AirPlay from Apple devices or an existing HomePod routine is essential. Choose Amp Pro if Google Cast and a supported WiiM Dolby surround expansion matter more. Extra compatible hardware is required for dedicated center and rear channels. Both need preamplified turntable audio and neither has a wired headphone jack.
Before you choose
If one person usually starts music from an iPhone and sends it to the living room plus a HomePod elsewhere, the original Amp keeps the documented AirPlay 2 route. Amp Pro does not support AirPlay. That means the buyer would need a different supported service or playback path, even if the passive speakers and TV stay unchanged. Pro makes more sense when the household already uses Google Cast or WiiM-compatible streaming and does not depend on AirPlay. The useful upgrade test is whether everyone can still start their own music without borrowing the person who configured the system.
What this is based on
Several household users, Apple playback and an existing second-room device crossed with exact AirPlay compatibility. No claim that all services or groups behave identically.

Main trade-off
AirPlay 2 is absent, so a higher model tier can require a different family playback routine.

WiiM Amp vs Amp Pro for an Apple household and shared TV. See why Pro can break an AirPlay routine and what its Dolby surround expansion actually needs.
These adjacent integrated WiiM amplifiers serve the same passive-speaker and TV buyer. The original can preserve an existing Apple routine, while Pro offers a documented Dolby hub route. The higher tier is not a universal replacement.
Winner by situation
Only the original supports AirPlay 2.
Amp Pro is a supported hub, with extra hardware required.
Both require the missing phono stage.
Neither has a headphone socket.

Amp Pro is a supported Dolby 5.1 hub, but dedicated center and rear channels require additional compatible WiiM equipment. For a renter or a family keeping the cabinet clear, that creates further power outlets, placement and setup work. It is a real path if those additions are planned. It is not a six-channel amplifier hiding inside the existing box. If two passive front speakers are the entire intended system, do not give that future feature more weight than an AirPlay connection already used every evening.
Limited installation space plus a staged surround plan crossed with the supported hub list and extra-channel architecture. No assumption that Dolby support means DTS or Atmos.
Both amplifiers take line-level analog audio. A turntable with a working internal phono stage can feed that input, but a raw MM or MC output needs suitable phono amplification first. Add the small box, power supply and cables to the furniture plan if the turntable has no stage. Pro does not remove that work. The same caution applies to USB: these sockets handle storage or audio output, not direct computer audio input. Decide what actually connects before treating the amplifier as the whole system.
Turntable without internal phono plus limited cabinet space crossed with shared line-level and USB roles.

WiiM, AMP001
Keep AirPlay 2 in an existing Apple household, with ARC for the TV.

WiiM, WiiM Amp Pro
Build from a supported WiiM Dolby hub, budgeting for additional channel hardware.
Meaningful differences
| What changes | WiiM Amp | WiiM Amp Pro | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|---|
| Apple playback | AirPlay 2 supported. | No AirPlay 2. | A shared iPhone or HomePod habit may favor the original despite the Pro name. |
| Surround hub | Not named in the current supported hub list. | Supported Dolby 5.1 hub with additional compatible equipment. | Plan the complete speaker chain rather than assuming the amplifier powers every channel. |
| Turntable input | Line level, needs phono amplification first. | Line level, needs phono amplification first. | A bare cartridge output does not become compatible by choosing Pro. |
| USB and headphones | Storage/audio output and Bluetooth, no wired headphone socket. | Storage/audio output and Bluetooth, no wired headphone socket. | Neither is a computer USB sound card or a direct wired-headphone solution. |
What you give up
Recommendation switch
Choose WiiM Amp. Original Amp preserves it.
Choose WiiM Amp Pro. Amp Pro supplies that route with additional compatible equipment.
What matters in practice
The model with the newer TV expansion route drops a connection the household may already use every day.
