Main trade-off
Dreame L10s Ultra Gen 2
The 10.5 mm mop lift does not replace automatic mop detachment for thick rugs.
Head-to-head
Choose the L40 Ultra Gen 2 if its extending side brush addresses debris missed around edges and furniture legs. Choose the L10s Ultra Gen 2 when you mainly want extending-mop cleaning at a better price. Both have a 350 mm square body, roughly 97 mm height and a 10.5 mm mop lift. Neither offers automatic mop detachment.
Before you choose
Both occupy a 350 × 350 mm body envelope. L40 is not a smaller robot because its height rounds down slightly.
What this is based on
350 × 350 = 122,500 mm² for each published body footprint. Protruding brush and operating clearance are not included.
Main trade-off
The 10.5 mm mop lift does not replace automatic mop detachment for thick rugs.
Main trade-off
Gen 2 cannot automatically leave its mops at the dock. That can matter more than its higher suction number around thick rugs.

Both Gen 2 robots are about 97 mm tall with the same body footprint. Compare edge-brush reach, mop care and the differences suction numbers hide.
Winner by situation
The stated height difference is negligible.
L40 extends the side brush.
Both have an extending mop.
Neither supports it.
What matters in practice
Both occupy a 350 × 350 mm body envelope. L40 is not a smaller robot because its height rounds down slightly.
350 × 350 = 122,500 mm² for each published body footprint. Protruding brush and operating clearance are not included.
Treat these robots as the same height when planning furniture access. A tight opening needs a practical margin much larger than that.
97.2 - 97 = 0.2 mm. Manufacturer dimension precision does not justify claiming a meaningful real-world clearance advantage.
Both already extend a mop. L40 additionally extends its side brush, which changes dry-debris reach before the mop passes.
The L10s Gen 2 specification includes MopExtend. L40 Gen 2 adds an extending side brush alongside its extending mop.

Dreame, L10s Ultra Gen 2
An extending mop and wash-and-dry dock cover routine hard-floor cleaning in a body just under 3.83 inches tall.

Dreame, L40 Ultra Gen 2
An extending side brush and mop cover edges in a shorter body than the original L40. The newer generation gives up automatic mop removal.
Meaningful differences
| What changes | Dreame L10s Ultra Gen 2 | Dreame L40 Ultra Gen 2 | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|---|
| Body width and depth | 350 × 350 mm | 350 × 350 mm | Neither is narrower in a tight passage. |
| Body height | 97.2 mm | 97 mm | A 0.2 mm difference is not a useful clearance advantage. |
| Mop lift | 10.5 mm | 10.5 mm | Rug planning is the same on this specification. |
| Edge hardware | Extending mop, fixed-position side brush | Extending mop and side brush | L40 adds outward brush reach for dry debris. |
| Automatic mop detachment | No | No | Both keep their pads attached. |
| Rated suction | 10,000 Pa | 25,000 Pa | The rating ratio is not a pickup-performance ratio. |
What you give up
What matters in practice
An extending mop wets a strip near a cabinet. An extending side brush can sweep dry debris from that area toward the vacuum path. If crumbs and grit are the problem rather than the wet-cleaning strip, L40's extra mechanism is the more relevant difference.
The published heights differ by 0.2 mm. Floor joints, furniture fabric and measurement tolerances matter more than that. If the L10s cannot comfortably enter a space, do not assume the L40 will solve it.
Both lift attached pads rather than leaving them at the station. A higher suction rating does not change that physical arrangement. For thick rugs that must remain dry, choose suitable route settings or compare a model with automatic mop removal.
What the facts say
Useful conclusions from the current robot vacuums comparison, followed by the checked facts used to reach them.
Only 9 of 52 models checked match every need here: “Mopping matters as much as vacuuming”, “Edges and corners bother me”, and “I need it under low furniture”.
9 matching models from 52 checkedDreame L40 Ultra Gen 2 lists 25,000 Pa for manufacturer-rated suction, 150% above Dreame L10s Ultra Gen 2 at 10,000 Pa.
Match countThe count uses the current product-to-need assignments for “Mopping matters as much as vacuuming”, “Edges and corners bother me”, and “I need it under low furniture”. A need with no documented match does not count.
Calculation noteThis compares published pascal ratings. Brush design, airflow and software can still change real cleaning performance. 34 of 52 models have comparable published figures for context.
