Main trade-off
UGREEN NASync DXP2800
Two SATA bays cap growth and rule out parity layouts.
Head-to-head
Choose the DXP2800 for two M.2 slots and 8GB memory. Choose the DS225+ for Synology DSM and dual network links.

There are no M.2 slots.

UGREEN DXP2800 and Synology DS225+ compared by drive layout, network and processor, best use.
The practical choice turns on best use, then on the constraints in your own setup.
Before you choose
If the family library needs object recognition in Synology Photos, price the required memory upgrade with DS225+. Its supplied 2GB is below the documented 4GB minimum for that function. DXP2800 arrives with more memory, but that does not make UGOS and Synology Photos interchangeable. Choose Synology for its exact photo workflow with the upgrade included, or evaluate the UGREEN photo application against your actual library before choosing it.
Synology specifies the feature threshold separately from its supplied RAM. Supported memory configuration and module compatibility still matter. Comparing 8GB with 2GB alone cannot establish equal application features or processing speed.
Suppose an external backup disk stays connected while you import from a travel SSD and attach a second backup drive for rotation. DXP2800 has three USB 3-class connections, so those devices can each have one. DS225+ has two and needs a different attachment sequence or verified hub arrangement. Choose UGREEN for the direct three-device plan, or Synology if rotating one connection is acceptable.
DXP2800 documents two front 10Gbps USB ports and one rear 5Gbps port. DS225+ has two 5Gbps USB ports. Socket count does not promise simultaneous full-rate copies or certify every external enclosure.
Winner by situation
Both records list “2.5 Gbps network. Plex use supported” for network and processor. Both records show the same result for “Network and processor”, so this row does not separate them.
A hardware video engine matters when the NAS must convert compatible 4K files for remote viewers.
Redundant storage and remote photo access protect the library while keeping it usable.
A 2.5GbE port can move data faster than a standard gigabit link when both ends support it.
Containers and home apps need a compatible processor plus enough usable memory.
Guided setup and clear software matter more than deep controls for a first NAS.

UGREEN, DXP2800
