Main trade-off
Zoom G6
The saved-loop workflow needs a compatible formatted SD card and its save procedure.
Head-to-head
Choose G6 when saving and recalling practice loops on a compatible SD card or retaining an external effects loop is important. Choose G2X FOUR for a smaller self-contained practice setup with USB bus power and integrated expression. Its stereo loop lasts up to 40 seconds, or 20 seconds with Undo on. G6’s extended SD loop route needs the card and the documented Clear-to-save step. Neither looper captures AUX music.
Before you choose
If practice ends when dinner begins, a useful loop should not depend on leaving the processor powered on. G6 documents saving a created loop to a compatible SD card and recalling it later. The Clear-to-save action and card preparation remain part of the routine. G2X’s reviewed manual does not establish an equivalent saved-loop route, so do not buy it expecting that outcome without further confirmation. Choose G6 when tomorrow’s short session should begin with the same prepared phrase. Choose G2X when making a fresh short loop is acceptable and the smaller powered-USB setup is more useful.
What this is based on
Interrupted practice and a shared room crossed with a verified save/recall route. Missing G2X documentation is retained as uncertainty, not converted into proof that every workaround is impossible.

Main trade-off
Stereo plus Undo reduces the loop to 20 seconds, and a saved-loop recall route is not established here.

Zoom G6 vs G2X FOUR for short evening practice and repeatable exercises. Compare saved loops, stereo recording limits and the pedal connections you will keep.
Both are Zoom floor processors with built-in expression, headphones, backing-track input and USB audio. A home player can reasonably choose the smaller G2X or pay for G6 when looping and an existing external pedal create a more demanding practice routine.
Winner by situation
G6 has a documented SD save route. Equivalent G2X persistence is not established here.
G6 documents Undo and a 45-second stereo loop. G2X stereo with Undo is limited to 20 seconds.
G2X keeps expression in the smaller practice unit with documented bus power.
G6 documents that pair. G2X needs a different external-pedal arrangement.

G2X’s maximum 80-second figure applies to mono with Undo off. Choose stereo and enable Undo so a mistaken overdub can be removed, and the documented limit becomes 20 seconds. A 30-second stereo exercise therefore exceeds that configuration. Turning Undo off allows up to 40 seconds, but gives up that particular correction option. G6 documents Undo and Redo for the last overdub alongside its 45-second internal stereo limit, so that same 30-second exercise can retain its correction step. Longer stereo loops need the SD route. Choose around the actual phrase and correction habit. Loop persistence still requires the separate G6 save procedure.
A 30-second stereo exercise plus the desire to undo an overdub crossed with G2X’s 20-second stereo/Undo limit. Thirty is an explicit example, not an observed average lesson length.
Someone keeping an external drive or other pedal can place it in G6’s documented Send/Return route. G2X provides guitar, AUX and control connections without that effects-loop pair, so it needs a different arrangement for the retained pedal. G6 also keeps its loop playing across patch changes. G2X stops loop recording or playback when patch memory changes, and opening its Library Screen erases the take. That matters when recording a rhythm phrase and then choosing another sound to solo over it. At the same time, both AUX inputs let a backing track be heard without putting that track into the looper recording. If the goal is sending a teacher the whole performance with the backing track, simply pressing the loop controls does not produce it. Choose G6 for the verified external-loop requirement, and plan a separate computer or recording route for the complete lesson on either model.
Retaining a pedal and submitting a backing-track performance crossed with loop connections and AUX exclusion. This does not claim all possible external-pedal placements require a Send/Return loop.

Meaningful differences
| What changes | Zoom G6 | Zoom G2X FOUR | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|---|
| Return to an exercise tomorrow | SD loop save and recall with documented Clear action after loop creation. | No equivalent saved-loop workflow established in the reviewed manual. | G6 provides a verified persistence route, with storage and save conditions. |
| Practice a stereo phrase | Internal 45 seconds stereo or 90 seconds mono, with Undo/Redo for the last overdub. | 40 seconds stereo, reduced to 20 with Undo. | The headline mono figure is not the usable stereo-and-Undo limit. |
| Keep an external pedal inside the chain | Dedicated Send/Return loop. | No Send/Return in the documented connection inventory. | G6 supports that routing job without assuming a phone input can replace a loop. |
| Record the backing track too | AUX is heard but excluded from the looper recording. | AUX is also excluded from the looper. | Hearing the song and guitar together does not create a recording of both. |
What you give up
Recommendation switch
Choose Zoom G6. G6 provides those documented routes, with SD and save conditions.
Choose Zoom G2X FOUR. G2X provides the smaller integrated-expression practice setup without unused SD workflow.
What matters in practice
A short loop that works tonight is different from a phrase that must be recalled after the gear has been put away.
