Main trade-off
NUX MG-30
EXP1 accepts the included NMP-2 LITE or another expression pedal. It cannot provide both connections together, and original MG-30 AUX does not feed USB recording.
Head-to-head
Choose MG-30 when one preset must change amp models or phone practice must leave an external pedal in the loop. Check Pro Scene firmware on the English-version unit, with matching QuickTone if used. Original MG-30 does not record AUX through USB, and a second expression pedal displaces the included NMP-2 LITE. Choose wired POD Go when six onboard Stomp assignments matter more and the song fits its loaded models and four user effect slots within DSP limits. Save snapshot edits. For phone AUX, bypass FX Loop to keep guitar audible, then restore Return mode and loop wiring before the next external-pedal or four-cable rehearsal.
Before you choose
Preparing tomorrow’s rehearsal at home may involve clean and lead sections built around different amp models. MG-30 Pro Scene can keep those models in separate scenes within one preset. POD Go snapshots change the states and settings of loaded models, so its single amp block cannot change model through a snapshot. Choose MG-30 for that requirement after checking its firmware and matching any editor. If one amp model covers the song, POD Go’s four snapshots can be enough. In Discard mode, save before selecting another snapshot or unsaved changes disappear. POD Go also reloads the snapshot that was active when the preset was saved. Save with the intended starting sound selected, then reopen the preset before packing.
What this is based on
Two explicitly different amp models for song sections crossed with what each saved-state system can change. NUX current Pro Scene and firmware sections, POD Go owner pages 4, 35-37 and 43. No claim about switching gaps, spillover or subjective tone.

EXP1 accepts the included NMP-2 LITE or another expression pedal. It cannot provide both connections together, and original MG-30 AUX does not feed USB recording.
Main trade-off
Four snapshots retain the loaded models and four user effect slots. In Aux In mode, enabling FX Loop mutes the other inputs while AUX continues playing.

NUX MG-30 vs Line 6 POD Go for changing amp models, phone practice with an external pedal and two expression pedals. Check scenes, saved edits and AUX resets.
Both can move between headphone practice, a rehearsal amp and computer recording with expression built in. This comparison uses original MG-30 and wired POD Go. The useful choice depends on what a song changes, which connections must work together at home and what needs resetting before rehearsal.
Winner by situation
MG-30 Pro Scene covers model changes with compatible firmware and editor. POD Go needs separate presets for different amp models. Save and reload the prepared sounds.
MG-30 has separate AUX and loop connections, though AUX is absent from its USB recording. POD Go must use another playback route or change the return connection and setting.
MG-30 external expression displaces NMP-2 LITE. POD Go retains six onboard assignments with the extra compatible pedal, but only four user effect slots and no optional FS7/8 on that occupied jack.
POD Go has four snapshots. MG-30 Pro Scene provides three. The POD Go chain must fit its fixed blocks and four user effect slots, and Discard requires saving before leaving an edited snapshot.
What matters in practice

POD Go snapshots change the states and settings of loaded models, so its single amp block cannot change model through a snapshot. If a phone supplies evening backing tracks while a favorite pedal stays in the effects loop, MG-30 provides separate AUX and Send/Return connections. POD Go gives its return one job at a time. Choosing Aux In displaces the external return, and an enabled FX Loop block then mutes the guitar input while phone audio keeps playing. Choose MG-30 when those two connections need to stay ready together. POD Go remains a fit when tracks can play from a compatible computer over USB, leaving the return for the pedal. After using its phone AUX route, restore Return mode and the loop wiring before rehearsal, then check the guitar through the intended preset. Original MG-30 AUX playback still does not put the phone track into a USB recording.
A retained external pedal plus phone-led headphone practice crossed with independent inputs versus a shared global input role. NUX connection diagram and original-model comparison, POD Go owner pages 8 and 42, Edit guide printed page 20. The next-session check includes both the global setting and the physical wiring.
A player who wants separate physical pedals for volume and wah may also need several effects under individual switches. MG-30 includes NMP-2 LITE, but plugging another expression pedal into EXP1 takes that switch’s connection. POD Go also shares its expansion jack between expression and optional switches, yet its six onboard Stomp assignments remain available with the extra pedal attached. Choose POD Go for that combined control requirement, provided the sounds fit its four user effect slots and DSP. If one built-in expression pedal and a few prepared scene changes cover the songs, MG-30 may already meet the need. Before buying the extra pedal, map every action and check compatibility, assignments and the reconnected setup.
Two separate expression treadles plus several direct on/off actions crossed with socket allocation and remaining onboard controls. NUX manual printed pages 7, 9-10 and 14, current I/O section, POD Go owner pages 7-8, 12 and 44. Physical assignments are not a count of freely chosen effect blocks.

NUX, MG-30
Choose MG-30 when the song needs different amp models inside one preset. Confirm Pro Scene firmware on an English-version unit and match any QuickTone editor to GEN2 or V5, then save and reload the prepared scenes.
Line 6, POD Go
Choose wired POD Go when a second expression pedal must leave six onboard Stomp assignments available. Budget the compatible extra pedal. Six assignments still share four user effect slots within DSP limits, and snapshots keep the loaded models.
Meaningful differences
| What changes | NUX MG-30 | Line 6 POD Go | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|---|
| Change the amp model within one preset | Three Pro Scenes can change amp and effect models with compatible firmware. | Four snapshots recall states and parameters of loaded blocks. The preset has one amp/preamp block. | MG-30 covers a specific model-changing requirement. POD Go can create contrasting sounds from its loaded models, but changing the amp model requires another preset. |
| Hear phone tracks with an external pedal connected | Dedicated AUX remains separate from Send/Return. Original AUX-to-USB is absent. | Return serves either the loop or AUX. With Aux In selected, an enabled FX Loop block mutes the other inputs. | MG-30 keeps the two physical routes available together. POD Go needs another playback route or a connection and setting change. |
| Add a second expression pedal | External expression replaces NMP-2 LITE at the shared EXP1 jack. | External expression replaces optional FS7/8, while six onboard Stomp assignments remain. Four user effect slots still apply. | POD Go retains more direct onboard actions with the second pedal connected. Both need the correct extra pedal, cable and assignments. |
| Keep edits for the next session | SAVE stores patch edits. Current GEN2 documentation also shows preset and scene save choices. | Preset saving stores four snapshots and the selected starting snapshot. Discard loses unsaved edits when changing snapshots. | Save deliberately and reload the prepared sound before packing. A working change heard during practice is not proof that it was retained. |
What you give up
Recommendation switch
Choose NUX MG-30. MG-30 Pro Scene supports that plan. Check the English-version firmware and matching editor, save and reload the scenes, and do not assume gapless changes.
Choose NUX MG-30. MG-30 gives each source its own connection. Original AUX does not enter USB recording, so a combined recording needs another source arrangement.
Choose Line 6 POD Go. POD Go keeps six onboard Stomp assignments. The extra compatible pedal is separate and occupies the jack otherwise available to optional FS7/8.
Choose Line 6 POD Go. POD Go can serve both jobs with the documented computer setup. Save edits. If phone AUX is used later, bypass FX Loop and restore Return mode and wiring before returning to the external loop.
What matters in practice
A scene that changes amp models, an AUX source beside a loop pedal and a second expression pedal each consume different parts of the setup.
