Main trade-off
De'Longhi La Specialista Opera
Milk texture still depends on your technique.
Head-to-head
Choose the Opera if loose grounds and inconsistent tamping are the parts you want to simplify. Its integrated lever and 15 grind positions are useful everyday upgrades. Choose the Arte Evo if you enjoy preparing the puck yourself and only need espresso, Americano and cold brew. Milk remains manual on both.
Before you choose
The Opera lists 15 positions against eight on the Arte Evo. It gives you more marked choices without adding more brew-temperature settings.
What this is based on
15 - 8 = 7 extra positions. Both list three infusion temperatures. Neither count establishes extraction precision or taste.
Main trade-off
Milk texture still depends on your technique.
Main trade-off
Tamping and milk texturing are manual.

Compare Opera EC9555M and Arte Evo EC9255M for contained tamping, grind positions, cold recipes and the manual milk routine they share.
Winner by situation
Opera contains the tamping stage.
Arte Evo supports the routine you already want.
Both have a documented cold-extraction program.
Neither has automatic milk texture.

15 - 8 = 7 extra positions. Both list three infusion temperatures. Neither count establishes extraction precision or taste.
Both machines document Cold Extraction Technology. Opera’s extra cold distinction is the separate Espresso Cool recipe, not exclusive access to cold brew.
Intersection of official recipe lists: Cold Brew is shared. Espresso Cool is additional on Opera.
The integrated lever replaces lifting out the portafilter to use a separate tamper. After brewing, the milk wand still needs the same kind of manual attention.
Workflow deduction from integrated versus separate tamping and shared manual steaming. No timed seconds saved are claimed.

De'Longhi, EC9555M
A built-in tamping lever tidies the puck routine while the manual wand leaves milk texture in your hands.

De’Longhi, EC9255M
A hands-on grinder machine with three infusion temperatures, manual steam and a rapid cold-extraction program.

What you give up
What matters in practice
The Opera mostly improves puck preparation. Do not choose it expecting automatic milk.
On the Arte Evo, dosing and tamping remain separate hands-on steps. The Opera contains the tamp inside the grinder station, which is a practical difference when the machine is used by several people. You still have to move the portafilter to brew, and dose guidance cannot guarantee a balanced shot from any bean.
Arte Evo already offers DeLonghi’s rapid cold-extraction process. Opera adds Espresso Cool alongside that program. If you only use a longer cold brew, the shared capability weakens the upgrade case. If you want a shorter cold espresso-style drink as well, Opera’s extra preset has a clearer job.
More marked grind positions can help when one setting is too fast and the next too slow. They do not reveal the actual size of each adjustment. Both keep three brew-temperature choices and manual milk. Choose the Opera for the preparation changes you will use, not an assumed quality leap based on its higher model position.
