Main trade-off
Jura J8 twin
Each hopper holds 180 g, less than S8’s single 280 g supply. The more popular bean can run out first.
Head-to-head
Choose J8 twin when two different beans are used most days and manual decaf dosing is becoming a chore. Choose S8 when everyone mostly shares one bean and space beside the machine matters. S8 is 3 cm narrower, while J8 twin keeps two separate bean supplies ready. Both hold 1.9 liters of water and still share one milk-care routine. Two grinders do not establish caffeine or allergen separation.
Before you choose
Imagine one person making regular coffee before work and another switching to decaf while calls and childcare interrupt the morning. J8 twin can keep each bean loaded and select the grinder for the drink. S8’s ground chute remains useful for occasional decaf, but it needs manual dosing and brewing within about one minute. The twin removes that repeated loading step. It does not provide tested caffeine-free isolation, since both beans still reach shared brewing equipment.
What this is based on
Two selected grinders versus timed ground-coffee loading crossed with frequent alternation and interrupted preparation. No caffeine carryover measurement or health guarantee.
Main trade-off
Each hopper holds 180 g, less than S8’s single 280 g supply. The more popular bean can run out first.
Main trade-off
Alternate coffee needs a manual ground-coffee step or a bean change. It is not a one-tap second hopper.

Jura J8 twin vs S8 15653 for regular and decaf drinkers sharing a small kitchen. Compare bean changes, counter use and the milk chores both retain.
Both make automatic hot milk drinks and sweet foam. Two-grinder convenience competes directly with a narrower single-grinder body.
Winner by situation
Twin keeps both whole-bean supplies ready.
S8 has a larger single hopper and narrower body.
Neither is two independent coffee machines.
No such isolation is established for either shared system.

If three people drink regular coffee and only one occasionally wants decaf, total bean capacity can be misleading. J8 twin holds 360 g in total, but only 180 g of regular beans when its other hopper is reserved for decaf. S8 holds 280 g of the shared regular coffee. That is 100 g more for the busy side of the household. J8 twin remains valuable when both varieties are used often. S8 can be the more practical supply arrangement when the second variety is rare and manual dosing is acceptable.
Two 180 g containers cannot act as one 360 g supply while one is reserved for another bean.280 − 180 = 100 g. No drink-count, freshness or actual refill interval is estimated.
Both machines need an external milk supply. On a crowded counter, choosing the 31 cm-wide twin can move the milk container into the area used for breakfast prep or dishes. S8’s 28 cm width recovers 3 cm along the same 44.6 cm depth, about 134 square centimeters of body footprint. That can matter at a tight edge, but it does not prove a particular cooler will fit. Measure the combined machine, milk container, hose route and refill access. A second grinder will not solve a cramped milk setup.
Width difference 31 − 28 = 3 cm. 3 × 44.6 = 133.8 square cm of rectangular body area. External milk container dimensions and clearances are additional and package-dependent.
