Main trade-off
PocketBook Era Color PB700K3
The seven-inch page gives diagrams less physical space. Text-to-speech does not make an image-only page readable aloud.
Head-to-head
Choose InkPad Color 3 when a larger page is useful and the extra height fits your bag. InkPad is 34.5 mm taller and 35 g heavier, but its listed body width is almost the same as Era’s. Choose Era Color when much of the routine is listening or handheld prose reading. Both support local audio, a speaker and text-to-speech, so those alone do not require the larger model.
Before you choose
InkPad’s screen is larger, but the documented body width is 134 mm against Era’s 134.3 mm. The change is mainly vertical: 189.5 mm against 155 mm, plus 35 g of device weight. Someone with a narrow, tall bag compartment may therefore gain page size without needing a wider opening. A shallow pocket could fail even though the width looks fine. Measure with the intended cover and allow space to take the reader out without force. This is a useful reason to consider InkPad for illustrated reading, but it is not a claim that the taller body feels equally balanced in one hand.
What this is based on
A narrow carrying compartment and illustrated reading crossed with exact body dimensions. 189.5 minus 155 equals 34.5 mm, 270 minus 235 equals 35 g. No universal bag fit or grip result.
Main trade-off
The seven-inch page gives diagrams less physical space. Text-to-speech does not make an image-only page readable aloud.
Main trade-off
34.5 mm taller and 35 g heavier. Color detail remains 150 ppi, so larger does not mean higher pixel density.

Compare Era Color and InkPad Color 3 for larger pages, narrow bags and switching between reading and listening. The bigger reader mainly adds height and weight.
These are current PocketBook color readers with the same storage tier, local audio support and water rating. A buyer who likes the file ecosystem can sensibly choose the compact side-button format or the larger page. Body geometry matters as much as the screen diagonal for this upgrade.
Winner by situation
InkPad adds page size with almost unchanged body width. Check the covered height.
Era keeps the shared audio routes with 35 g less device weight.
InkPad is 34.5 mm taller before its case.
A supported extension does not remove DRM. Check publisher-enabled downloads title by title before changing readers.

If reading regularly turns into listening while folding laundry, both models already provide local audiobook playback, a speaker and text-to-speech for suitable text. InkPad’s extra page space does not improve that audio requirement by itself. Era is the lighter option for that mixed routine. InkPad earns the extra size when the time spent looking at diagrams, comics or fixed-layout pages is the important part. Check the document itself. A scanned page that is only an image is not established as readable by text-to-speech, and a synthetic voice cannot replace the visual relationships in every chart. The larger display may help inspect those pages, but neither purchase proves the file can be listened to.
Hands-busy chores, supported audio and image-heavy source documents crossed with equal audio feature classes and unequal physical pages. No OCR capability, narration quality or matched speaker performance assumed.
A buyer leaving Kindle for a larger PocketBook may notice AZW or AZW3 in the format list and assume the old library can come along. InkPad explicitly limits those formats to files without DRM. Amazon now permits downloads for some purchased DRM-free books when the publisher enables them, while borrowed Kindle Unlimited titles are excluded. Check the books you expect to keep before paying for either reader. InkPad’s larger page is useful only after the files can be opened legitimately. Era’s smaller body cannot fix the same content-access boundary. No repurchase cost is assumed because eligibility is title-specific.
An ecosystem switch motivated by larger pages crossed with file extensions, DRM and publisher-enabled downloads. No blanket claim that every Kindle purchase is locked or transferable.

Meaningful differences
| What changes | PocketBook Era Color PB700K3 | PocketBook InkPad Color 3 PB743K3 | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|---|
| Fitting the bag compartment | 134.3 mm wide and 155 mm tall. | 134 mm wide and 189.5 mm tall. | Width barely changes, while height grows 34.5 mm. Measure the opening and case, not just the compartment interior. |
| Carrying and holding | 235 g. | 270 g. | The larger device adds 35 g before a cover, about 15% of Era’s bare weight. That is not a comfort measurement. |
| Color page | Seven inches, 300/150 ppi. | 7.8 inches, 300/150 ppi. | InkPad adds physical page space, not greater text or color pixel density. |
| Listening between reading sessions | Local audiobook files, speaker, Bluetooth and text-to-speech. | Same listed types of audio routes and text-to-speech. | Listening by itself is not a reason to carry the bigger screen. |
