Main trade-off
Miele Guard L1 AllFloor
The package has no rotating floor brush for embedded carpet hair.
Head-to-head
Choose the Guard L1 AllFloor for mostly bare floors, low furniture and rugs that suit suction-only care. Choose the L1 Cat & Dog when short-pile rugs need a rotating brush. Their bag volume and reach match. The pet package changes the floorhead and filter, not the included sofa-brush capability.
Before you choose
Cat & Dog earns its place when the repeated problem is a suitable rug. If the pet sheds mainly on a sofa above bare floors, its extra floor brush leaves the upholstery kit unchanged. That is a reason to price a hand tool separately.
What this is based on
AllFloor and Cat & Dog both include a plain two-in-one upholstery/crevice tool. Cat & Dog replaces the specialist suction head with STB305-3.
Main trade-off
The package has no rotating floor brush for embedded carpet hair.
Main trade-off
An air-driven floorhead is included, not the electric head supplied with the blue Guard L1.

Miele Guard L1 AllFloor vs Cat & Dog for bare floors, delicate rugs and pet hair. Compare the included heads, filters and the sofa-tool gap.
The Cat & Dog package adds a rug brush. It does not add a rotating sofa tool or more bag room.
Winner by situation
The flat AllFloor head is the relevant package feature. Measure clearance because no under-furniture height guarantee is supplied.
The air-driven brush addresses that rug job if brushing is permitted.
Use an allowed suction-only head and setting, including the shared combination head where suitable.
Both have plain small nozzles. The larger floor turbo does not become a dedicated sofa tool.
Both use the same replaceable TU bag system.
What matters in practice
Cat & Dog earns its place when the repeated problem is a suitable rug. If the pet sheds mainly on a sofa above bare floors, its extra floor brush leaves the upholstery kit unchanged. That is a reason to price a hand tool separately.
AllFloor and Cat & Dog both include a plain two-in-one upholstery/crevice tool. Cat & Dog replaces the specialist suction head with STB305-3.
First establish whether any rotating brush is allowed, then set suction as prescribed. Lowering power on the Cat & Dog does not turn its air-driven head into the same tool as the AllFloor. You may need to switch to the shared combination head.
AllFloor uses a passive head. STB305-3 rotates using airflow. Both bodies have adjustable suction and include a combination nozzle.
Both give a 36 ft published radius and 3.5 L bag. A long hallway or a high dry-debris load cannot justify Cat & Dog over AllFloor by itself. The justification has to come from the floorhead or filter package.
The two exact US product records list the same operating radius and TU bag volume.

Miele, 12704590
Two suction-only heads suit bare floors and low-pile rugs. Foot controls and onboard tools keep routine adjustments accessible without adding a carpet brushroll.

Miele, 12704570
A foot-controlled bagged canister for hard floors and short-pile pet rugs. The Cat & Dog package supplies a floor turbo brush, while sofa cleaning uses the plain upholstery attachment.
Meaningful differences
| What changes | Miele Guard L1 AllFloor | Miele Guard L1 Cat & Dog | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|---|
| Specialist head | Flat suction-only AllFloor | Air-driven STB 305-3 | AllFloor avoids brush rotation. Cat & Dog supplies agitation for permitted short-pile rugs. |
| Additional head | AllTeQ combination head | AllTeQ combination head | Both retain a combination tool for switching suitable surfaces. |
| Sofa tool | Plain two-in-one upholstery/crevice | Plain two-in-one upholstery/crevice | Neither includes a handheld turbo brush. |
| Filter | AirClean Plus | Active AirClean with charcoal | These are different standard filters, neither listed here as HEPA. |
| Bag | 3.5 L TU | 3.5 L TU | No additional collection space comes with the Cat & Dog kit. |
| Reach and adjustment | 36 ft radius, foot controls | 36 ft radius, foot controls | The route and suction-control location do not decide this pair. |
What you give up
Recommendation switch
Choose Miele Guard L1 Cat & Dog. The included STB305-3 adds the rug-specific action missing from AllFloor.
Choose Miele Guard L1 AllFloor. The AllFloor package gives a passive specialist head without buying a floor turbo you should not use there.
What matters in practice
Choose AllFloor for a suction-only floor routine and low furniture. Choose Cat & Dog when a suitable short-pile rug needs the air-driven brush.
AllFloor’s flat head is a reason to inspect clearance beneath the furniture that you actually need to clean. The head, connector and wand must all reach the space. A photograph or the word flat cannot guarantee the complete assembly fits. Both packages also include a combination head for other permitted floor tasks.
Reducing suction does not remove the rotating brush from the Cat & Dog head. A rug that prohibits rotating brushing needs an allowed nozzle and the correct suction setting. The included combination head may provide that route, subject to the rug maker’s instructions. You do not have to use the specialist brush on every surface.
